PAYTM single-handedly knocked down all recharge sites by giving crazy cash backs.. Alibaba's huge investment helped paytm to capture market.. but how long ?

of course.. Everybody is trying to capture market share.. sooner or later some of them will fizzle out.. only big two will persist. after that there wont be any outrageous discounts.. FoodPanda gave huge discounts last year.. It was so ridiculous..

Nope. Flipkart has its in-house logistics set up - called eKart, Snapdeal uses a mix of outsourcing + in house setup. As this was a weak point until last year, they went and took a strategic stake in Gojavas.

i thought paytm was like paypal. ?

They were a payment gateway. But Alibaba invested in them last year, after they evaluated Snapdeal and passed it over for high valuations. After Alibaba put in 650 Mn in them, they overnight became an ecommerce company with 100% cash back and all that crap. Since then Snapdeal is getting its ass kicked all round by Paytm, Amazon etc.

The only differentiator nowadays in ecommerce is just capital. Naaku $ 1 Bn isthe, nenu kooda overnight ecommerce giant avvachchu. Now the chickens are coming home to roost.

Tilak:

Flipkart ki ee year will be the year of reckoning - it is either survive or bust. Jabong has been on the block but nobody is coming forward to buy. Foodpanda (the same parent as Jabong, Rocket internet) was being hawked for $10 Mn, did not find a buyer...ila chala kathalu unnayi..

Morgan Stanley marks down Flipkart shares value by 27%.
As recently as last week, Flipkart had said in a press statement that it is valued at $15.2billion right now.A 27% fall in Flipkart's share price would imply Flipkart's valuation now is around $11 billion.

Antha ledhu le kaani, this has been in the offing for long....you just need to read between the lines and catch the pulse a bit....

-when was the last time you saw an advertisement of snapdeal
-their CMO who joined just 6-7 months quit last month, he was a very senior guy from IIM Calcultta 98 batch; intha thoraga quit chesadante edho theda unnatte
- their recent round of fund raising was a struggle and they raised money from some relatively lesser known funds
- amazon literally kicking everyone's ass, you will not be surprised to see this happening in Flipkart too soon

Ila chana unnayi...for people like us who move in these circles, it does not take much too get a good sense from outside.

Employee Version

##

According to media reports, employees (only customer service) have been asked to achieve over 85 per cent customer satisfaction score, which is not feasible as Snapdeal has never crossed the 65 per cent mark. However, according to YouTube video below, employees see no valid reason for making such stringent performance parameters.

One of the employees in the front of the camera says:
Snapdeal hired us recklessly without any future projections about our role in the company.
They also alleged that the company has been selling counterfeit products which is one of the prime reason for not achieving customer satisfaction score over 60 per cent.

Major chunk of employees who are sure about not meeting the performance improvement plan (PIP) are most likely to leave Snapdeal by the next week. âManagement has chalked out PIP parameters deliberately so that we are left with no option than resignation,â says one disgruntled customer care executive on condition of anonymity.

Since last April, about 600 employees have resigned in the customer service department through similar PIP programme.

Snapdeal version.

##

There have been no layoffs at Snapdeal. As part of the ongoing performance management and development program, some team members at our Contact Center have been offered a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). While many team members have opted for this opportunity to improve the requisite skills set, some team members have desired not to undertake the PIP and have instead decided to move on voluntarily.
