I will tell you all non-immi visa (H1 etc) guys who are thinking about itemizing to save $$ and potentially screwing up your future REAL BAD.

Many of you fall under standard deduction. But many fradulent (example finalysis.com) mis-direct you to make their $$.
Here is a case which we have handled: A CTS consultant in my client company (named Mr X) and his room mates(most of them CTS folks as well) and other such misled group of folks followed finalysis for 3 years and saved Ton of money. Finalysis incorrectly deduct MANY non-eligible expenses under itemization(RENT, Flight tickets etc) and show a BIG FAT return check. In reality you cant deduct many of those(Example: You cant deduct your living facility rent, food expenses etc.. only you can deduct if you use a facility/expense to execute the job. Example: You use a part of your house as your Office, you can. But being a consultant working at a client premise or at your office, you cant show your place where you clean your kitchen vessels as tax deductible). I saw this on their 4th year of happy ride and strongly advised them to talk to a CPA, They spoke to the CPA and paid all balances(amending the past 3 years taxes) by paying additional CPA fee for each amendment and balance taxes.. and they are VERY LUCKY that IRS didnt start poking them from IRS side. If so, there will be penalties, interest etc..(this is not a third part information. I can give that person details to cross check if we reach that level to confirm this.) All I want is you guys make a right judgement. Playing ping-pong with US laws is very sensitive.

Thanks Bayaa..for updates. So itemized ki bills vunte ok annamata. I will go with itemized.

Let us assume that you spend on average 3K per month with receipts.
For a sales tax of 7.25%, Your sales tax would total to be 2610. Which would be less than 12.6K.
No go in my opinion.

"HR block at home" software use chesthaanu nenu, coz it is cheaper than TurboTax. Okka saari mathramey itemized > standard ayyindi (medical expenses were huge). all the other years standard deductions ye.

Itemize cheyyataiki what expenses do you have. generally you itemize if you have big deductions like interest on home load, medical etc.

Without those standard deduction will be much better
