Root of all this is Abrahamic mindset of Indian judges. They think any custom(however regressive) can be allowed if it is found in a book. This is the keyword: BOOK. This whole thing is an Abrahamic idea - it is valid if it is found in a book/authority. That is why Muslims/Christians can claim some custom is there in Bible or Koran and get away with it. Add the luxury of Article 29/30 to this. Hindus have no such central book/authority. The customs change based on location/deity/ wahtver. Aagama, Srautha to ANkalamma, Poleramma. Whatever temple board argues in Sabarimala case may not apply to other temples. But still the judges insist on what authority/books prescribe these customs. The judges should ideally throw away these PIL(The whole PIL concept is hijacked.) Another recent example of such PIL is on using Temple elephants in Kerala. A lawyer who is fighting for the right of women to enter the famous Sabarimala Ayyappa temple in Kerala has told the Supreme court that he has received hundreds of death threats warning him to drop the petition, making him seek police protection.
