Aha:
Meeru oka scene notice cheyandi - madhavi comes running to balu in the beach after she decides that she woukd say ok to balu's proposal. All of a sudden akkada hubby kanipistaadu, who apparently already spoke to balu. Next scene balu takes her to temple and talks about faith etc. madhavi just looks stunned and speechless. Ikkada director total ga madhavi char ni granted ga teesukunnaadu. Few mins back teesukunna oka major decision ni balu override chestunte, she will just keep quite and follow silently. Adi assalu correct kaadu. What balu did is correct or not in the long run is secondary, but aa monent lo oka ammaayi feelings ki viluva ivvanatte. Oka pasi pillani treat chesi nattu chesi train ekkistaadu husband tho. Director did not establish any strong argument there. Meeru cheppinadantha, about gauravam and other stuff is after their lives got separated.
I agree with your point to the extent that Madhavi had feelings for Balu. The director did not have to take either Balu or Madhavi's side. the choices were presented to both!. Madhavi made her choice, while Balu made his. While Madhavi chose her heart, Balu most probably chose his stroger feeling about her.
Like I mentioned earlier, to assume human emotions are linear is a mistake. Even in real life, there is always a conflict when people are presented with choice. The decision to be together is a mutual one, and if one among them are not on the same stance - the other accepts it even if it means she is being wronged.
We are assuming that Madhavi went back to her husband immediatly after Balu made the choice - which may or may not be true. May be she took her time, may be her husband eventually won her over. The story is being told from the perspective of Balu - and so the characters around him are shown with a weight from his perspective.

This is the reason, I have mentioned about deification in KVs movies. More often, we see characters remain silent spectators of the situations rather than going against them or acting out based on their "current" fielings. This has to do with the way the persons get together - they seem to pay more importance to their respect towards their counterparts - rather than their feelings towards them.
I like the conflict presented in such movies - most people who are making decisions on their relationships - atleast in movies are relatively younger in age - when decisions go wrong - there is a certain level of displeasure that is presented - but these two here are older, and more mature in handling in their conflict. although - the choice lead to a tragedy in their lives, they lived with it - rather than fighting for it - which would mean they are ready to voice against their more respected partner. Remember, in each others eyes, they are not equals but they are greater than their own ego. |

Redclaw777:But still, the point wasnt conveyed effectively in my opinion. The lead pair is obviously in love.....ex husband arrives and Whoof! She is on the train with him. They really compromised Jaya's character there. She didnt have to listen to anyone but herself.
It's almost like, for the sake of story and to make his life more wretched, this point felt hurried upon.
I feel that you are missing an important point in the movie - its not a singular emotional response from Balu the artist to not chose living his life with Madhavi.
As I remember, when the husband returns - he does indicate that he understands that if Madhavi does not want him back in his life, Madhavi does seem to be bent towards Balu - but Balu is the one who defies Madhavi's likes.
The relationships between Balu, Madhavi, Raghu is characterised by various levels of bonding. They are friends to begin with and their tryst takes a brief romantic tryst but the biggest relationship between them is one between an artist and his most perceptive audience, his most devoted fan, who is also his patron.
To Balu, his art and its Patrons matter the most. Similar to other lead characters in KVs movies, there is a level of diefication the lead character assigns to their patrons, you can see this as a recurring theme in saptapadi, sankarabharanam, swarnakamalam, subhasankalpam. These characters keep crossing over to various levels of bonding, but the actors almost always chose the patronage over other bonds.
Infact, without this aspect of relationship between Madhavi and Balu, Madhavi's daughter would never have gotten convinced that the relationship between his mother and Balu is pure, and not a typical love story between individuals when they were youngsters.
Further, In the climax of the movie, the references to "Devata" and "Maha Thalli", which i feel refer to his patron - Madhavi.
Between Sankarabharanam and Sagarasangamam - a similar theme in a converse way. In SB, artist is the rich one, and the patron is a poor one, coming from devadasi family, and in SS, the artist is the poor one, while the patron is rich and comes from respectable household.
In Both movies the patronage from these women to artist men - is based on some form of veneration for the art and the artist. but humans can multiple have emotions and these emotions can sometimes shift between being friends, or romantic, but eventually they chose their patronage.

Changes in society is happening earlier when there is an item song on TV, we use to switch to other channel. Now from Grand Ma to Grand Childern whistles and sings these songs |

oka basic doubt - most of the us (DB junta) may not have seen KV's movies in his prime time right? if you see after 5-10 years then you don't feel the same magic even though you might like them..
sagara sangamam, swathi muthyam time ki some of us were not born or in diapers..

But still, the point wasnt conveyed effectively in my opinion. The lead pair is obviously in love.....ex husband arrives and Whoof! She is on the train with him. They really compromised Jaya's character there. She didnt have to listen to anyone but herself.
It's almost like, for the sake of story and to make his life more wretched, this point felt hurried upon. |

Shankarabharanam is film by Vishwanath. It's his baby. Shankarabharanam tarvatha appatlo youth rushed to learn Carnatic music ani vinnaanu....that's his achievement and the reason to be termed as best of Vishwanath ....
Vishwanath alone can't take credit for samara sangamam. It's something where eveyryone did their part well.....it's one of the best movies of TFI. But, masses did not connect with it as much they connected its Shankara Bharanam.......it dint create an nterest in dance for people back then....

Might not be his best, but I enjoy his 'Swarnakamalam' the most.
Probably the best romcom in Telugu cinema. Such a crackling chemistry between the lead pair...like Fire & Water.
Enni saarlu Anna choodacchu due to the happy ending.
Best is 'Saagara Sangamam' no doubt. Except for the fact that its depressing, its a classic.
