A documentary made by the BJP weeks ago as part of its training programme for party workers says India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s “love for the West” led to policies under which Indian culture could not be safe. The video makes no mention of Nehru among prominent freedom fighters. It does mention Mahatma Gandhi, Subhas Bose, Sardar Patel, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Ram Prasad Bismil and Khudiram Bose. It also tacitly blames the Congress for Partition: “The Congress could not stop Partition because of mishrit (mixed) nationalism and desire to come to power quickly.” The BJP has uploaded the video on its website recently. It is part of a training package, which includes books and a song.
