Swachh Bharat Cess is an attempt to cover up the revenue losses incurred due to corporate tax rate reduction planned for 2015-2020. Anticipated revenue loss for 2015-16 (with 1% reduction) is around 21,000 Cr after deducting increased revenue with super-rich surcharge increase of 2%. With the Swachh-Bharat cess, additional Rs 10,361 Cr is expected to be added for anticipate service tax revenue of Rs 256,116 Cr @12.36%. To cover up 50% revenue losses and hoping that it will be trickled-down sometime in future, bottom ninety-nine should pay additional 50 paisa for every service they use so that top percentile can save additional rupee. Imagine how much is going to be the burden for common man in next five years with the planned 5% deduction in corporate tax rate. Excise duty has been increased on petrol by Rs. 1.6 and on diesel by rs. 50. I think this is the fifth instance of increasing excise duty on petroleum products. They are going to charge surcharge on international travel and between metros so that they can subsidise air travel between non-metros. Ellemma left leaning governments ante we expect this shit but from modi never expected. Very dissapointed and this is not the way to increase shortfalls in budget. To makeup for shortfall in collection of direct taxes they're going in for increasing indirect taxes and by the time GST rolls around we will have a peculiar sitiuation where corporate tax will be more or less same as indirect taxes. Off course all the chambers and pink papers would go to town celebrating the big reforms but the fact is that the common man will be fcuked from all sides by these indirect taxes. In theory yes rates would go down since there wont be any compounding of taxes at various stages but current form since petroleum products are out of gst ambit taxes taggavu it'll increase the prices by .5-1% but it'll make filing of taxes simple.
