Public transport in Brisbane is not very good and expensive. But traffic is not as bad as Sydney/Melbourne and freeways are not bad either. So drive to work is not hard. Univercities in AUS are pretty good and current ranikings show that UQ (University of Queensland) is placed at 21. As you said earlier its all about your priorities. We lived in Singapore, NZ, USA and currently in Aus. All in all I love NZ, but the problem with NZ is small market and too little choices :-) | ||

This is wrong, winters are colder than Hyderabad/south india with lows touching 2/3C and summers are really nice with low 30s and occasional 40s (3-4 days in summer) Agree skin cancer is high because of more sunny days..
Living expenses are really high, but pay is slightly better than US, savings ikkada kastam compared to US..if money earning is not the no1 criteria then Aus is any day better than Canada and US

Australia: cost of living high. Salaries are also high. Minimum wage is 15-20$. So a waiter makes a lot of money! USA pays less for waiters but pays high for tech jobs. Australia doesn't pay as much as U.S for tech jobs(considering living expenses). Andhuke quality of living is higher and pretty much equal for everybody. buying/renting is also higher. Most australians go on getaway trips to Bali and other far east asian places. Any other trip like say to U.S or EUROPE will be very expensive considering their living expenses in aus. Also australia is very isolated. you have to live in the city as an immigrant.. you need to make a ton of money to live in sydney and melbourne. Adelaide(I wouldn't live here) and Brisbane ( good ) might be slightly cheaper. Perth is the most isolated city in the world. I also think depression and suicide is highly prevalent in perth because of isolation. Then there is Darwin which is gateway to your trips to bali Australia's healthcare system is the best in the world ( IMO). Canada taxes you high for their healthcare which Australia does too I think, but if you leave out primary care, canada's health system sucks. Everything else I mentioned above is cheaper in Canada ( common opinion is Canada is more expensive than US). weather: Canada neek thelisuntundhi. It'll be cold. But Australia is hot as hell and throw in a few spiders and snakes as well. Skin cancer is highly prevalent due to heat( research study and hugh hackman ) Canadian sports suck for me. Australia much more passionate. Australia is called lonely planet. Canada is closer to U.S and the north american trade agreement makes it easier for you to get the TN visa to come to U.S to work (you need to become citizen to do this). P.S: I think your back up plan is dabbul bokka. If they issue a PR( you'll be competing with people who have a valid job offer on hand; if you already dont) you'll need to be living there for at least 2 yrs (guessing non-continuous) within a 4 year period(think of your U.S status). After 4-5 yrs on PR; your status will be analyzed. Should PR be revoked if he's still not here and question sestaar. overall if you get PR you should shift base. Unless you are a citizen of either of these countries PR won't do anything for you unless you plan to shift there | ||

I would suggest consider Singapore too It's one of the finest place on planet earth Very much secured heaven for Indian food close to India just 3.30 hours flight journey Time diff also 2 hours or so and Singapore dollar also Rs 40+ when u go for conversion Only drawback is for higher studies of your kids you should rely on overseas like India, UK or Australia etc Driving is my PASSION.
