Yep..it was made by Telugu Music Academy...but never knew it was composed by ARR. Likewise I used to like the BGM is Trinetrudu first song (Hey Papa)...Recently Koti said it was A R Rehaman who was the key board player for that film. So, somewhere A R Rehman's Tsunami was shown in samples before Roja released. And when Roja released, for the first time I had GOOSE BUMPS (which many are using so often for today's movies)for the very 1st scene in Devi 70 MM theatre...The scene where the terrorist is caught by the police. He created altogether a new SOUND. | ||

My Assessment / Analysis : IRR - One of the greatest musicians ever born in India. I rate him greater than K V Mahadevan, Shanker Jaikishen, Naushad or O P Nayar. This is because, apart from song composition, he elevated upteem movies and scenes with his background score. He is equally perfect with classical & western instrumentation. In 1990 he was the only Asian to have FULL FLEDGED symphony (complete list of instruments like wind pipes (clarinets, flutes etc). He exceled in Carnatic music and folk. 900+ movies in 30 years is no mean achievement with 85-90% successful albums. He could not become successful at national & international level due to : 1. He was very arrogant and had racist attitude. Had lot of regional feeling towards Tamil. 2. His partiality to singers has not helped him to broaden his horizons. Eg: He always gave SPB & Janaki the importance leading to MONOPOLY of these singers in 1980s. After he introduced Chitra, it was SPB & Chitra in 1990s. One more example is because SPB was his close buddy, he gave lot of best compsitions to his sister S P Sailaja (which she did not deserve at all) like Matae Mantram in Seetakoka chiluka. Such a gem was screwed up due to wrong selection of singers. 3. He always sang the best songs by himself in Tamil. Was a work-aholic and hence could not focus on PR to spread his wings. Orelse he deserved international recognition (OSCAR) even before ARR. The only feather in his cap globally was the symphony he did in UK with musician from Bucharest. He was given the MASTERO title. Unfortunately he was given Padma Bhushan after 3-4 years after ARR got one. Irrespective of his attitude he is my all time fav composer. A genius to the core !!! ARR - He reinvented the cinema music by creating a different SOUND. More than composition, it is the fusion of western & indian music that created and impact. His back ground score is no less that IRR to elevate scenes. Had a great sense of experimentation right from his jingle days. I still rememeber in national doordarshan in 1990 there was a national integration programme at 12 noon on Sundays. I used to watch that program as a kid only to enjoy the rolling titles music as it was very different. Years later I came to know that it was ARR who composed that jingle. That was the impact on the minds of music lovers. The biggest revolution he brought in Indian Music Industry is making different singers sing songs for the same album. He broke the single card albums across India and he did with huge success. Who knew Mimini (Chinni Chinni Asa) Suresh Peters (Chiku Buku)Unni Krishna (O cheliya), but still songs became a cult. He broke the monopoly of SPB in south. And the best part is he sang only if the song suited his voice. This helped him to work with different musicians across the globe. If IRR became successful in Tamil & Telugu, ARR did it in Hindi, Tamil & to some extent in English. It is a pity that Carnatic music notes and songs originated from telugu language, but Tamilians mastered it. KV Mahadevan, MS Vishwantan, IRR & ARR are few gems they produced who became famous beyond their tamil boundaries. | ||

ARR songs lo sound baaguntundi....instruments dominate singer voice...and uses chorus along with instruments for BGM.... the only good thing about ARR is, he could make anyone sing a song....
