There might have been a valid reasoning why it was done earlier....during a time when the rivers were abundant, flowing and the population much lesser. However, now I feel whatever might hav been the logic is diluted given the state of our rivers and the huge population we have. Not sure of we are going to get any minerals now...but bacteria/virus are guaranteed. Now it is being done purely on religious sentiments... | ||

Yes, Life on this planet revolves around intake of minerals which attracts the bacteria. And our ancestors had a proper understanding of minerals. No wonder if something happens every 12 years which will make the water more nutritious and they understood the phenomenon and inculcated into mass culture.
