Malayala Manorama is the most widely read newspaper in Kerala. What I have observed there is that the migration to cities is not as prominent as we see in other states. The number of people you see there living in a village/small town is much higher than the number of people you see in a village in A. Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) has recently released data related to the circulation of Telugu newspapers for the first half year (January - June 2014). During this period both Lok Sabha and state Assembly elections were held and elections usually enhance the sales of the daily newspapers. But this year there has been no significant change in the number. Eenadu won the race with a maximum circulation of 18.21 lakh copies. Sakshi newspaper came in second with 12.58 lakh copies sold. While there may be examples of Andhrajyothy or ABN exhibiting bias towards TDP/CBN, I know numerous instances, almost once in few days where RK/ABN/Andhrajyothy make sarcastic comments, insulting comments on TDP. Only last weekend, he clubbed Babu with KCR and made an insulting comment about "iddaru Chandrulu" saying that they might both dig their own graves or something to that effect. I have, till date, never seen Sakshi criticize Jagan/YS Vijaya/YSRCP even when it fully deserves it. And yet, I see people comparing Andhrajyothy to Sakshi. Some even go to the extent of calling Andhrajyothy as Chandrajyothy (as if Babu is running the paper and getting himself abused!) but don't even mildly say that Sakshi is a biased newspaper. Jagan emo Sakshi launch appudu ichina lecture lo "journalistic standards padipothunnai...nilabettadaaniki Sakshi launch" ani cheppi, years later, well after YSR's death, Sonia meeda edo insulting article vachindi ante "Sakshi is independently run, it has nothing to do with any party, unbiased ga uninfluenced ga nadustundi" ani malli adey sodhi andukunnadu...sandarbam vaste ippudu kooda adey cheptadu... Atu Sakshi vishayam lo journalistic standards...itu politics lo "viluvalu, vishasaneeyata..." Mari antha adarshanga unte ee rojullo Indian politics lo survive avvatam kashtamemo...some fan of Jagan please advise him to make some compromises on values in politics and some compromises on the independence of his press... |
