mistake in earlier post. A NRI/PIO can hold agriland/farmhouse/plantation land if it was purchased before becoming NRI or inherited even after becoming NRI/PIO. So vere country citizenship teesukunnaa PIO kinda vastamu kabatti, we can inherit or hold the agri/farmhouse/plantation land (if it was purchased prior to becoming NRI). Once you become NRI you cant legally purchase farmhouse/agri land/plantation land. | ||

NRI's cant buy agriculture land or plantation land. even if someone buys, it can be challenged and the NRI will lose the land also face penalties. But NRI's can inherit agriculture land or plantation land. Non-Indian Citizens CANNOT own/inherit agriculture land or plantation land. You must get rid of it once you become another country citizen. | ||

one thing is for sure. please make an excel list of days you were out of US during last 5 years while filling application. You can find the stampings in Indian passport but this will make life easy. Usually it will be done in three months. So better don't have any travel plans once you post the application (unless emergency). Finger prints in One month's time. you can apply 90 days before 5 years of continuous stay is completed. as long as you had 30 months of physical presence in last 5 years and was not out of country for an year in a single instance. you are all good.
