All uncles why blood boiling... naaku ee 2 ruppes, 5 rupees etc gurinchi telvadu kaani, not giving back the change is something which has been part of HYD since for ever...
- 25 paisa = 1 crane supari packet
- 50 paisa = 2 crane supari packet or choclate
- 75 paisa = 3 crane supari packet or choclate+ supari
Bata vaadu 29.95 antaadu but we never get the 5 paisa back...
Bawarchi jumbo pack was 180, we never get the 20 back unless u ask...
Auto la any figure ending with 6, we never get the 4 back...
Hyderabad has always been like that... |

toll workers gurinchi kadu kani maids vishayam lo matram little improvement in income is not entirely true. Desam lo we pay 1600 rs/- for cleaning dishes only for 3 people. When I visit with my family then it is extra for her because then it will be for 3 more ppl.. hardly 1 hour work for entire day and they get good money. Malli andulo no pay cut for day offs.
Our maid works in 3-4 households and has job in a school also.
mana white collar jobs vallatho comparision endhuku.. we work 8 hrs a day regardless and our weekend hours go unaccounted for.
My gripe is - i dont mind paying but be accountable for what you take. Maa parents ki oka part time driver unnad.. whenevr my parents need a driver they call him..He is a gem of a guy. Intermediate educated and he charges only for the time our parents take...very respectful and very professional.Adda diddanga nadapadu.. speeding cheyyadu etc etc. my mom trusts him to the core and she treats him like her son. |

two opposite sides ye matladuthunaam... there is a lot of gray area. nen edho service nazi lekka kanvaduthunnaan emo... like i said, i never have problems when the other guy is honest, even if there is a mistake on his side. naa side mistake unaa nenu alaane behave chessthaan....
ejjample septhaan... maa inti pakkana, okka apartment construction avuthundhi.. they dug a huge sump in the ground but did not cover it with a lid... almost half fill ayyindhi... the watchmen has three little kids... they always play in that area... i was just talking to the watchment, and realized that uncovered sump, could be potentially be a danger for the kids... one misstep and they might fall in and lose their lives..
aa watchmen ki cheppaanu.. lid pettinchamani cheppu ani, the constructor/builder ignored it.. two weeks choosan... kanapadina prathi saari aduguthunnaan... then i saw the builder once.. and i asked him myself.. he said will do it tomorrow...
next week i was leaving, it was still uncovered the day before i left... aa roju, i took the watchmen to a store and bought the lid myself and we closed the sump.
such gross negligence irks me... and i am not saying since it india, and since its indians it is happening...but naalanti vaalu 100s thiruguthaa untaaru aa area lo... and even when i pointed out the issue, it was not taken care of by the person who is responsible. idhi US lo ayina, i would have the done the same thing. |

never had problems when the other guy is genuine.. in fact always more than what the service was for.. but if the other guy assumes that he can cheat through or lie through.. i have a problem with that.. |

NRIs still love india, whether the folks on the other side agree or not.. coming to cocoon... NRIs are notorious to ignore comforts to chose places where they make the most of their talents. i did not understand what kind of cocoon.. granted there is huge population in US metros, NRIs stay in places where there is not anything remotely available for a typical desi.
ofcourse there were are silly issues discussed here, but saying NRIs are stuck only in the past and their perception is because of some sort of nostalgiac hangover, is way over simplifying.

1. I live in a bigger house with bigger rooms in India.
2. cell phone signal/3G is better every where in India.
3. Indian restaurant ki velthe mediocre taste with least hygenic environment.
4. Banks ki velli teller ni use cheste fee.
5. Barber deggaraki velli vaadu chese darunamaina hair cut ki icche tip tho ikkada hair cut and shaving kooda aipothundi decent saloon lo.
6. roju maaku maid vacchi illu oodchi, blankets set chesi, dishes wash chesi, battalu uthiki velthundi. akkada ivanni manam chesukovali, cheyyaka pothe it will show up... I live in a lot hygienic place than what I will if I move back
7. NH9 Hyd-Vij meeda "7" ane rest area gurinchi ikkada matladuthunnaru. compare it with the quality of rest areas that you see in the US. eppudaina US rest areas lo no 1 or no 2 cheyya galigara. "7" lo unna hygiene akkada untada..

I make sure NOT to forget my basic roots whenever I make a trip to dESam.
At times it would be frustating to see the "attitude" which has nothing to do with earnings.
The only thing which I strongly protest and does not mend a verbal is for lack of time sense (cheppina time ki rakapodam, chestananna pani cheyyakapodam lantivi) most of the times which is not a lesser evil among desis in vamerica.
Otherwise I enjoy my stay in dESam like anything irrespective of the place I am in. Especially those train journeys

Only way to survive in parayi desam is to go out and live life like the rest of the parayi desam. otherwise, what is there to complain when they go back to desam?
