email ikkada edtunna: regarding the new propose immigration policy discussed by President Obama in November of 2014, we can’t really give any definitive answers because these initiatives have not yet been implemented by USCIS. We were notified that USCIS will give us more details on these policies in the next several months. What we can say is that when these new initiatives are instituted, they are suppose to eliminate the backlog for filing I-485 adjustment of status application. The President’s proposal will allow individuals with approved employment-based petitions (I-140s), who are waiting for their priority dates to be current - to be able to file the I-485 adjustment of status application as long as their category is not considered unavailable. Under the current system you can’t file the green card application until your priority date is current. | ||
