people like VIV for that style and the body language he showed and how he dominated in ODI's but in my view.....he played a little less number of ODI's to be considered best of all time.... And that is more than countered by the very high numbers he has in Sharjah. 122 wickets in 77 matches at an average of 19, all numbers far lower than his general average. So Akram had a windfall in Sharjah, unlike what you stated. So second argument on Murali's home matches - 109 matches, 154 wickets at 24.62. So his numbers in Sri Lanka are actually worse than his overall average, both in terms of wickets per ODI or in average. So Akram actually benefited a lot from his matches in UAE while Murali's numbers at home are worse than his international numbers (even after excluding the minnows) | ||

Ee lekka enti...naaku ardham kala...881 wickets enti...i frankly think Akram is an overrated bowler, ended up with an average of less than 4 per test..that is frankly well below average. How can you even compare him to Bradman. The only Bradmanesque bowler out there right now is Steyn, in wickets per test, average, strike rate etc etc. Kummi kummi vaduluthunnadu...
I don't hold a brief for Murali, i never liked him btw and frankly felt that his record was overstated by wickets against poor teams and by the stigma of chucking. Warne was by far the best bowler of that era and it is terrible that Murali holds the test bowling record. But if you read the various stories about chucking, degrees of hyperextension of various bowlers etc. you will realise that Murali's was a genuine case of anatomic freakishness while at the same time almost all bowlers do hyperextend by over 15 degrees. | ||
