usual ga movie dubbing will be done after shot is over....but ikkada special ga ANR scenes ki munde dubbing chesar from hospital...while shooting going on Also, chandrabose was delaying a song lyrics...chaala days ayyaindi...appudu nag special ga phone cheshi chandrabose ki he told him about his immense need to finish the movie fast considering anr's health and he wanted his dad to see the movie release...chandraboe felt bad and immediatley finished the song...chandrabose ye cheppadu idi...he also apologised on stage for the delay Atta_boy never understands the obligation/need to support/cheer for somebody irrespective of them doing right or wrong in Sports/Movies/Politics...I thought we were just fans...Wait, Are we SLAVES ? | ||

Aa director Ishtam and 13 B madyalo em chesadu...only 4 movies in over a decade is quite slow.. Another worthy thing in Manam is the minimalism in characters and narrative. For instance we are not even shown Nag Chaitanya's and Sam's family. Nor the elder Nageshwara Rao's family. Where any other director would have added more and more characters (like Sreenu Vytla), all those characters have been done away with. | ||

I missed seeing the movie in a theatre and regret it everytime i see it on TV. It is by a big margin, the best Telugu mainstream movie in ages. Rarely have i seen a movie which gets almost everything pitch perfect. The screenplay is what makes the movie. I admire directors who can make complex stories appear simple. What could have ended up become a duh-inducing reincarnation story is told with the utmost ease. The audiences could have easily got lost in the story loops. But the way the story is narrated puts the audience at ease rather than demand too much from them. The music is fantastic. One of the best Telugu soundtracks in many years. 3 great melodies. Also Chandrabose's best work. The background music is apt and touching, not loud and give the right cues to the audience and elevates the scenes at many occasions. The music during the Shriya - Nag marriage when Shriya first sees Nag is absolutely wonderful and tugs at the heart. Do not remember the last time any movie, much rather a Telugu movie did this to me. Vikram Mohan is a master of his craft. He was good in Ishq but great here. Not a wront note in the movie. Apart from a brief stretch in the second half around the drinking song, he kept the narrative on a tight leash. There are no unnecessary comedy tracks or lowbrow humour. There are so many scenes which stand out - the flowers falling down on the car hitting it, a hint of blood on the flowers, Nag and Shriya finding each other in the hospital when both are opening the door etc. The entire Nag - Shriya flash back episode is breathtakingly shot, the locations, the photography (reminded me of Days of Heaven), art direction, costumes, music. Above all, in these days of loudness in behaviour, direction, dialogues and a general crassness in the approach to their craft, Vikram Mohan shows a rare degree of humanity in the movie. He is subtle, does not pander to any star images and let's his craft do the talking. Never heard of PS Vinod before. He deserves a lot of credit for the visual look of the movie. I can't stop raving about some of the shots especially during the Nag - Shriya flashback episode. All the actors did well (even Naga Chaithanya was good). But Nag and Shriya take the cake. Nag showed a lot of dignity and Shriya was beauty and grace personified and shows how underutilised she has been over the years. Harshavardan is a dialogue writer to watch out for. If i were to define the movie in one word, it would be class. The whole production maintains a certain level of class and sophistication rather than cater to the lowest common denominator. Manam is actually a gift that keeps on giving. Every time i see it i find something new to like. Thanks to Vikram Mohan and the Akkinenis. |
