Boyhood - when i first posted the mindblowing reviews a few months back, evaro DB lo Linklater lo juice ayipoyindi annaru...i think Farmer brother. Boyhood is a flat out masterpiece, a bildungsroman a la Of Human Bondage but far less melodramatic...an epic a la a Spielberg/ Nolan or Lean but here the epic is less about spectacle but more about life in general...and just one does not like life to end, here too one does not want the movie to end..and to think that the movie cost less than probably Salman or Shahrukh Khan's remuneration is a slap on the face..currently the best rated new release movie ever on Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic. Brilliant in conception and intimate in portrayal of family life - it is like a Ozu meets David Lean. Rating anavasaram movie ki Interstellar - Nolan has got the audience so much interested and quibbling over the physics and astronomy here that they are not giving the emotions a short shrift. And so goes for Nolan too, he too has given stuff a short shrift. Something oddly sterile here - it is neither a thriller nor a good sensitive movie - it falls slightly short in both these areas. For once, he got the balance or just the mix wrong here. A strange mix of Kubrick and Spielberg. He tried to balance a family movie with a metaphysical movie and that felt out of place. 3.25/5 |
