when you do compound movements like bench press, overhead press, rows your arms get worked out as secondary muscle and when you start hitting the heavier range they get worked our more se your energy to increase your overall strength not to bust peanuts with your arms also number of cals burned will be lo you can add couple of sets of arm workouts at the end of the workout...that is what i do |

rebuild the strength foundation 2 day workout compound movements (dont think of a bicep curl or tricep pushdown for 1 year at least ) Day 1 : Legs - squat Chest - bench press Back - deadlift Day 2 Legs - squat Shoulders - overhead press Back - rows just concentrate on these 5 movements for 4-5 months each movement - 3-4 arm up sets , followed by 3 working sets of 5 reps each except deadlift were you have only one work set next workout day time you come back - increase wt from previous if you are stuck, either deload(.75 of max workout) for a week or keep working out at max level for a week or so till you make it to next max wt no machines, go for free wts barbell or dumb bell- all can be done using either typical schedule monday - D1 tuesday off wednesday - d2 , next off friday d1 assisted movements kee lunges, pull ups, push ups nenu chepthundhee is called starting strength program net lo 100s of articles on it ...it works ..just stick with it for 6 months at least, eat well , sleep well , read well |
