/sbin/service --status-all
acpid (pid 3642) is running...
anacron is stopped
atd (pid 4459) is running...
auditd (pid 3177) is running...
insufficient privilege to change service status
Avahi daemon is not running
Avahi DNS daemon is not running
hcid is stopped
sdpd is stopped

Maverick:




sudo /sbin/service <service-name> status

should give you service running status...


most of services will have status in its scripts..

so service start ayyaka if its in lsof, does that mean its fully started?




hope so.. but to test as other mentioned, try netstat -an| grep port

and try telnet to that port...


if port connected, service must be up&runing

service is started using ubuntu upstart../etc/init lo conf files unnai..
so service <service-name> start anagane start ani vachi return aipotundi..i want it to wait until its ready to accept requests.

so service start ayyaka if its in lsof, does that mean its fully started?

check the logs for the process... it should log an entry when ready to accept requests

I did not get the later part of your question though.. a process accepts requests if it is started .completely started ante artham kaaledu.

service ne ... you are trying to connect to a PORT of a host. you can replace hostname with localhost if you are testing port connectivity on same machine.

How can one identify if a service is ready to accept requests?

Say oka process start cheste, how can we make sure the process has completely started to accept requests. any ideas?
