Business community is looking forward to seeing its proposal for recapture of unused immigrant visas. Read on. There are some readers who were not able to read this report because the Wall Street Journal required subscription. For the employment-based immigration system fixes, it appears that business giants have pushed hard for the two reforms included in the executive action. One was to take out spouses and children from the employment-based immigrant visa annual limit and the other was to recapture unused employment-based immigrant visa numbers. There is no information that the executive action will indeed include these two fixes, but its impact on employment-based immigration community will be substantial and tremendous. As this reporter wrote yesterday, unused immigration visa numbers alone exceed 200,000. As for the spouses and children of the primary employment-based immigrants have been estmated to be close to more than 150% of the numbers of principal immigrants. Combination of these two factors may add upto 200,000 + 350,000? This reporter is not good in math and our math audience should correct this reporter for this calculation. Again, we will have to wait and see to find out whether Obama will go this far in administrative reform of employment-based legal immigration system. Good news is, though, that it is not going to take too long to find out whether this dream can come into the reality. With the opening of the Fall season, immigrants can witness some level of dream-come-true, especially some undocumented immigrants.
