"when I look back now That summer seemed to last forever And if I had the choice Yeah, I'd always wanna be there Those were the best days of my life" mine was the one when we we got back our EAMCET results, got a good rank, but the counselling and college start was delayed... had a lot of time at hand ... we bought a couple of cricket kits, would play all day long, from early morning 6 to lunch and again from 4 to sunset ... for a few months we played like there was no tomorrow... cricket was my first love , and those few months were the best times i had with it... alot of passion and played it till every part of the body ached ... those were the best days of my life. we would sit out on the top of a pent house, discuss on how we did that day... we would discuss how the placements for particular style of bowling would be, and how a certain batsmen would tackle it ... we even would draw out field positions on pieces of paper.. few years back when i was in india, was looking for something on the attic, and there was a box of my books on the attic, when i took them out, i found these bunch of sheets, with field positions with names... just sat with those papers in hands, going through them for a few hours ... today i cringe at the thought of playing cricket, its like visiting your old lover, and you dont want to show up anything less than with your best.. and yes i dont play it anymore because of the same reason... the few times i played it in recent years, it feels like i cheated with some one new ... its not the same any more.. the romance of those days was too intense everytime i listen to this song, i go back to that few months.. |
