As usual except the great (sic) Delhite kings or their tabedaars there is no mention of name Sardar Sarvayi Papanna in our history text books. If not for the Janapada songs and stone carvings, we might have completely forgotten about this hero in these three centuries! 1709 he conquered Golconda fort. He ruled whole of Telangana from there until his death in last battle. He ruled almost all of present day Telangana state for nearly twenty years! Sardar Sarvayi Papanna was born in Goud family. His family was staunch Shivaite. From the childhood he was fiercely free loving person. Never listened to so called society rules. He built a strong friendship with likeminded folks around him. He slowly built an army of 1000 and then 2000 and then 3000. One by one he built nearly twenty forts! Shapuram fort is the major fort he built and strongest. Killed two of Aurangajeb commanders outside this fort! He was visionary, leader and a brave warrior. Probably the only King in Telangana who fought against outside invaders instead of trying to negotiate with them, like other Jamindars of that day. He was the only King of Telangana who fought for the rights of downtrodden. He is indeed Shivaji of Telugu folks.
