A Comment in TOI To all you dumbasses who ask ‪#‎whoisMariaSharapova‬. Please let me answer your question. Maria Sharapova is one of the greatest tennis players of all time, one of the richest female athletes in the world, a style icon, a successful entrepreneur, and an icon for women worldwide. She is basically the greatest Russian sportsperson ever. We have no right whatsoever to insult her and denigrate her simply because she does not know who Sachin Tendulkar is. So what? It doesn't reflect badly on her character in anyway. It certainly does NOT warrant the kind of reaction that we as Indians are having. I am sure that most of the idiots who are trolling this page have no idea who Major Dhyanchand was. This phenomenon is reflective of a certain kind of reactionary, toxic jingoism. The people who are bombarding her page with abuse are, to a large extent, middle-class, small-town Indians who are new to the internet and act out against what they perceive to be any kind of slight to their country. So, when we post abuses and insults on her facebook page, it reflects poorly on us and simply tells the world that we are a bunch of belligerent buffoons who are ready to take offense at the smallest thing. Is this how we want people from other countries to view us? We should be ashamed of ourselves for the way we are behaving. | ||

Obviously she does not, but i am sure if she said that it would not have resulted in the joke that now the whole incident has become...so the presumption is that for Tendulkar fans, he should be more well known than either Shiva/ vishnu or lakshmi devi..frigging idiots...most of his fans seem to have stopped their education just at Tendulkar's level too...my problem is not with Tendulkar but his fans and sometimes at tendulkar for his inability to act like a statesman and tell his fans to shut the fck up.. |
