The AP CM is slated to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on June 25 and officially press his compensation demand. As per the calculations made by the AP government, since 1956, when the integrated state came into being, the Centre had invested Rs 1.4 lakh crore in Hyderabad, the AP government Rs 5.89 lakh crore and the private sector Rs 6 lakh crore. "This amounts to a total investment of Rs 13.2 lakh crore on Hyderabad alone. We will request the Centre to compensate for Hyderabad as we have lost out on two thirds of our revenue," information technology minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy told TOI. According to Naidu, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts played crucial roles in the generation of revenue for the state as more than 45 lakh people from different parts of the state and the country migrated to these two districts from 1956. Of the revenue of Rs 70,548.27 crore that was raised by the state taxes and other collections in 2012-13, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts contributed the lion's share of Rs 34,100.73 crore whereas the entire coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema put together contributed Rs 21,538.94 crore. The remaining Rs 13,506.83 crore was contributed by other districts of Telangana. The total revenue generated is from sales tax, excise, stamps and registration, transport, mines and geology and other heads. The total revenue for united Andhra Pradesh during 2012-13 stood at Rs 1,27,566.74 crore. All these statistics are slated to become part of the memorandum that Naidu will present to the PM on June 25. Naidu will also explain to the Centre how without Hyderabad, residuary Andhra Pradesh will become a revenue deficit state as many companies and institutions have made the city their headquarters and paying income tax and also remitting other taxes in Hyderabad thus leaving no scope for the new AP state to get any additional income. The AP Reorganisation Act made it clear that Hyderabad city will become integral part of Telangana and that Andhra Pradesh will not get any revenue generated in Hyderabad. Naidu will also submit to Modi that the Centre has constructed about 262 buildings in Hyderabad city alone for different institutions and that all of these have now become Telangana's assets. In contrast, residuary AP will gain only 15 central government buildings that are located in that region. Officials in the Telangana government wondered that if this was the amount being sought by Naidu only to compensate the loss of Hyderabad, how many lakh of crores would he seek for the development of his state and the construction of the new capital.
