I was initially surprised when you said that you quit to focus on politics for the past few months. That is rather brave especially for someone at your pay grade (i have a good memory, remember that from your R2I thread). There is never a right time to start on the entrepreneurship road, when the itch starts, you scratch it, to put it crudely. As long as one is covered on expenses for an year or two, there is nothing to worry about. Of course, i am not an expert on big data, but do know that is a good market, but as your rightly said - heavily contested. Do you have any anchor clients you can pull in that will give you a quick hit so that some of the working capital issues are taken care off once the business starts. | ||

After this brief stint in politics, I have decided to make my next move in career. I have had discussions with family, ex-colleagues, mentors both in India and the US over the past 2 weeks. I have decided to work on building a product in business intelligence and Big Data reporting. This is an over crowded market but I am trying to carve out a niche in Health Care IT. The base product will be GPLed. I have found a partner back in the US and the company will be incorporated in the Bay Area. I will continue to stay in Hyderabad and will operate from the IIIT incubation center. I am planning on hiring 2-3 employees using the money from our pockets. I have struck a deal with RVR & JC college of engineering Guntur(my alumni) to use their resources and students for supporting the GPLed base product. My staff here in Hyderabad will productize and provide commercial twist to this. I know this is too much of details for this forum but I am just throwing out my plans and looking for any red flags that you may spot. |
