My View: Surender Reddy basically tried a Trivikram Srinivas. Surender's last few movies like Kick & Ooseravelli had interesting screenplay which got him a new set of fans. However, he seems to have ditched tht formula and went in for a straight forward masala entertainer. One feels Deja Vu as the movie had influences from Jalsa & Julayi. Brahmi's episode was very similar to his role in Baadshah and the brother thread had some similarities to Thadaka. 1st Half - Introduction of Brothers' rivalry was ok. But the movie doesnt really take off despite Hero's introduction. Loads of comedy attempts dont always click. Villain's intro seems badass but simply donest carry forward the menace and feels silly. Screenplay is as predictable as it gets. There is an attempt to get some emotions stirring towards interval. 1st Half overall is strictly ok. Isn't horrible but doesnt seem promising either. 2nd Half - Starts off interesting but every decent comedy scene is followed by something silly. Some unnecessary bits add to a bit of drag. Songs pop out of nowhere. Brahmi is decent for a while, but looks almost like the extension of his Padmanabha Simha character in Baadshah without the lasting effect. We have seen it already. Plot also goes outright silly at times. After taking the movie in a very light vein, there are attempts to give it a serious feel in the climax. 2nd half felt very predictable with not as many high points as expected. 2 songs are good but placement of the songs are not good. But you can see tht most of the budget has gone to songs which look stylish & lavish. Allu Arjun was his usual good. The way he delivers his 'Devudaa' shall become a catch phrase. His dance in Down Down is good. Shruti Hassan shall appeal to the masses. Most of the comedians are ok in parts. Summary - Surender trying conservative comedy action was a surprise but he is no Trivikram to pull it off. Though a few scenes are good, the overall feel of the movie is very inconsistent. It reflects in the Hero's brother's characterization who tries to be a mature morally upright police officer, but has some immature guffaws with his brother. Same with the Villain. Overall, It's a very mediocre product from someone as talented as Surender Reddy. Biz Expectation - Might end up around 35. If it goes beyond 40, Mega Fans can be considered Gods. Did I enjoy the movie - Only in a parts. | ||
