Many non uber rich get in, but those are kids of high ranking corporates or service emps Your simple ruddhudu by state government employee or middle level corporate management parents will only get u so far Look at new age Silicon Valley billionaires, many are from privileged backgrounds, larry ellison types are rare. Not so distinguished background people also get in, but they truly need to be stellar and need lot of luck. | ||

The top 10 schools all the way up to Duke and UT-Austin are ok too no need to restrict oneself to the top 2-3 schools. Some schools like Georgia Tech also have a MS in Quantitative Finance, so that can be one more option. | ||

Keeping your joke aside...My cousin did it from there and she also served on the admissions committee for a couple of years as the student representative. If you belong to a good business empire and write a convincing statement of purpose saying that my family owns these crores of businesses and I need to expand it and take care of it while developing India...blah...blah..blah tannu kuntu isthaaru. Stanford, Harvard lanti schools pedigree baaga chostaayi once you get a decent GMAT score say 730+. All these schools want to educate future powerful leaders and powerful business people so that their own B-school brand stands out. It also helps when you do your undergrad in US and get a good GPA. However, these business schools want diversity, for example they won't take more than 10-15% of Indian/Asian IT folks working in the US in the program, they make take another 10% working in India and who in their SOP claim they want to return to India, 10-15% ARTS people from the Ivy League background, 10-15% people from underprivileged backgrounds growing up in public housing, etc., some from an Army background, etc. You need to have a very compelling story especially if you one among the thousands of Asian IT workers, unfortunately most of the desis who get in there from India are from very rich backgrounds. | ||
