I don't want to make any comment on politics: Sourav Ganguly Press Trust of India | 17-Dec-2013 23:21 PM Kolkata: Amid growing speculation about beginning a new innings in politics, former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who has been made an offer by the BJP to contest the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, today said he would not comment 'anything on politics'. Told that there seemed to be scramble among political parties to rope him in to contest the Lok Sabha polls with even a proposal to make him the future sports minister which was similar to efforts made to get cricketers into the IPL, he said: "I hope that in future I will be able to participate in IPL. What I have said is that I don't want to make any comment on politics. "This is not the platform to discuss politics," he said. He also declined to comment on CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury claiming in Agartala on Sunday that he had always been with the Left and hoped that he would remain so. "I have said earlier and I am saying it now that I have no comment. I want to talk only on the South Africa-India cricket series," he said. While the BJP has offered him a ticket, WBPCC President Pradip Bhattacharya had met him at his residence on Sunday. Bhattacharya had maintained that it was a courtesy call. Ganguly had earlier said that he had received the offer from the BJP, but had not decided on anything. |

mean while Congress approaches Greg Chappell to counter Sourav Ganguly for 2014 LS polls http://www.theunrealtimes.com/2013/12/15/congress-approaches -greg-chappell-gives-him-ticket-for-2014-elections/ Moments after the BJP offered a ticket to former Indian cricket icon Sourav Ganguly for the 2014 LS polls, the Congress has approached Ganguly's bete noire, former Indian coach Greg Chappell, in order to pitch him against the prince of Kolkata. "Yes, it is true. We have approached Gregji to take on Dada. He was so successful in bringing down Ganguly's cricket career and we feel that with him on our side, it'll hardly be months before Ganguly is decimated politically too," said Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh. "Besides, it always makes sense to go for someone like Chappell, who has impeccable secular credentials and keep newly formed communal forces like Ganguly at bay. I think I can safely start calling Ganguly as Sanghuly hereafter!" Singh added. Chappell who spoke to The UnReal Times correspondent Varsha Dhoble, appeared quite pleased with the offer and is currently inclined towards accepting it. "Oh, I'm loving it so far, mate! It looks like I might be accepting this full time. I'm told Congress workers love working under foreigners. I've already got the drift of how this whole thing works. Sonia is like my mother, she brought in the Food Security Bill, the Right To Information act, the Land Acquisition Bill and so on. I'm surely gonna set up a Rajiv Gandhi sports academy through an Indira Gandhi Cricket Coaching Yojana once I'm voted to power, mate and after that, when Rahulji comes to flag off the coaching camps there, he can proudly say - India mein Gregji ko kaun laaya?," said Greg, leaving our correspondent totally stumped. "Also, I've dealt with the BCCI for years and it wasn't too different from a political party, given that shady politicians run both the organizations. I'm looking forward to catch up with Sharad Pawar again in the alliance," Chappell added. Congress quarters from all across the country have welcomed the decision, with Tamil Nadu Youth Congress workers going ballistic and feeding cake to posters of the late Tony Greig. |

Gangad will make an excellent politician, career lo last 3-4 yrs team lo chesindi politicsey kadha http://www.rediff.com/cricket/report/south-africa-sourav-gan guly-offered-bjp-ticket-yet-to-decide/20131214.htm Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has been offered a ticket to contest the general elections next year by the BJP but is undecided on whether to accept the offer. Click here! It is learnt that the offer has come from the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, who has promised to make the Bengal sports icon the sports minister in the Cabinet if the party comes to power. "Yes, I've an offer. But I'm still undecided on what to do. I've been busy for last few days... I'll let you know soon," Ganguly was quoted as saying in a leading Bengali daily. The speculation has been doing rounds after he met Varun Gandhi through a common friend in the capital in mid November. Varun, the national general secretary of BJP, is also the observer for West Bengal. In the Trinamool Congress-ruled Bengal with 42 seats, BJP has a solitary presence in Darjeeling. Ganguly, however, could not be reached for a reaction to the report
