 Aa nenu kooda first maa wife passport renewal ki ilane anukunna; you will get a phone call from the local police station that you have to go to the station and submit some documents...akkadiki vellaka they will give a form and ask you to fill and get signatures of 2 references... so a second visit is needed...then the constable at the PS will take his time in filling out a document, he will make you wait till he clears the queue, going out on some beat, you will have to wait for a few hours as you need to sign or thumb print the document... I thought that there was no time limit for this and put it on the back burner, then i got a letter from the passport office asking my wife to show cause why the documents were not submitted etc etc.we had to go again to the passport office, give an explanation etc etc So within 2 weeks you will need to submit these documents...if you are not at home when the Police station calls, god help you... | ||

I have heard really really scary stories about Hyd....they used to have online appointment system around 2005...in 2009 people were waiting in the line for close to 24 hours. I know people that returned back to US for good...after this experience. | ||

Raman uncle, passport comes easily now, the pain is in the verification that is happening post-issue. Earlier police verification used to happen prior, now after the passport is issued, you have to go the police station and give some documents, references, a letter etc etc. Still a bit of pain. I had a bit of a fight in a Bangalore police station last year on this... | ||

Question 3. I don’t have ECNR stamp in my Passport. Can I get it on the basis of my provisional matriculation or above certificate issued by the University/Board concerned? Ans. We are no longer affixing ECNR stamp in passports. In fact it is not even printed in the new passport booklets. Currently, only ECR stamp is being put in passports if applicant is not eligible for ECNR. However, you are entitled to ECNR status if you possess qualification of Matriculation or above. Even you can get ECNR status on the basis of provisional matriculation certificate if the mark sheets of all semesters of your course are available with you. | ||
