+1 Lara had a disruptive effect on the team, while SRT a beneficial effect. It wouldn't matter if Lara played a solo sport like tennis, but this is Cricket and you have to take "team player ability" into consideration. It is not about slowing down for a 100, it is about watching out for yourself as you watch out for your team. Players like Dravid and Steve Waugh - so called "self-less" players have had a high percentage of dismissals in the 90s. Bottomline = how did you influence the team dynamic. from the evidence I have, Lara's ego was too much for the team to handle! He's a great batsman, perhaps the greatest, but as a player? It is a crime in a team sport. Lara's biggest drawback is he played for himself. That is where SRT gets the kudos. He could have kept going at things like he did till 2001 or so, but he once Sehwag started donning the aggressive top-order role, SRT started playing like RSD. As I always said, Dravid/Kallis/Chanderpaul can play in gears 1,2,3,4 and Ponting, Lara, Hayden can play in 3,4,5 and 6. SRT can do 1 to 6! Easily, the most COMPLETE batsman to have played the game! closest to him = AB Devilliers! MSD = MR.Ranchi | ||
