Delhi: AAP to release manifesto today, Lokpal likely to top agenda CNN-IBN | 18-Nov-2013 08:09 AM New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party might be making its electoral debut with Delhi Assembly polls but it is staying a step ahead of competition. The party will be releasing its overall manifesto for Delhi on Monday. AAP will eventually be declaring 70 manifestos for 70 different constituencies--a first of its kind. Sources told CNN-IBN that Anna's Janlokpal will top AAP's manifesto. It will also address critical poll issues of water and electricity. The manifesto may also feature 700 litres of free water for every middle- class and poor family and slashing of electricity rates by half. Sources said that the manifesto will also address issue of regularization of unauthorized colonies. AAP's Delhi chief ministerial candidate Arvind Kejriwal said all the promises made by the party will find a place in the manifesto- from the Janlokpal to abolition of contract work for jobs that are of permanent nature. He said the promise for creating parking spaces will also be reflected in constituency specific manifesto. Polling will be held in Delhi on December 4 and results will be declared on December 8. There will be a battle between Congress, BJP and AAP in Delhi. Here is an excerpt from the interview CNN-IBN: There are many Delhis in the state of Delhi? Arvind Kejriwal: Firstly Delhi is a very diverse place. It has people from different cultural backgrounds, very different sets of problems. And also every locality has its own sets of problems which will not find its place in the state manifesto. That is the reason we decided to have seventy one manifestos. CNN-IBN: Will all the promises you have made find a place in the manifesto? Arvind Kejriwal: Yes. All those things we have been saying. Janlokpal Bill, safety for women, government schools, private education, unauthorized colonies, jhuggi jhopdis all those things will be there. CNN-IBN: Abolition of contractual work for safai karmacharis? Arvind Kejriwal: They will also be there. CNN-IBN: Parking spaces? Arvind Kejriwal: They should be there. | ||

 Chattar Singh, a senior vice-President of the Delhi Congress told NDTV's show Truth vs Hype that the real secret of the Congress's success is its strong base amongst the city's four dominant communities, OBCs (16%) , Brahmins (9%), Dalits (16%) and Muslims (12%), with an emphasis on the latter two. For all the perceived cosmopolitanism of a city like Delhi, he says large sections continue to vote along lines of caste and community. Chattar Singh showed us a list of 48 seats where Dalits and Muslims are more than 20% of the electorate. He said the Congress swept these seats in the 2008 assembly elections, winning 34, with the BJP only winning 10.
