2003 World cup. Kottha illu konna and WC kosam 60: TV konna and subscribed to Dish. Payed $400 for WC package and invited every friend I know. Prathi match podduna 4am ki start ayina lechi choose vaadini. Weekend matches ki friends antha night vacchi maa intlo unde vaallu. The match against Pak was a dream. thammi... I have been watching cricket since 1984 when Azhar did debut against England and scoreed successive centuries. Since then I watched every single game India had played including the Benson & Hedges dream series and Sharjah cup. Since then downfall started especially against Pakistan. It was a psychological barrier than cricketing skills to battle Pakistan. Then came Sachin who gave a confidence that we could beat anyone. His game was text book styled, defensive, aggressive, playing with/against conditions, situations. We had a dream run in cricket world and I can pretty much attribute entire credit to sachin. He had carried the hopes and burden of billion people in every game and still played composed. Never he was lured to fixing allegation, never bowed to any opposition. That's the mark of a legend. Along comes the celebrity status, glamour and fan base who started adoring and turned him into demi-God. They started churning his stats into records, moderate scores into unbeatables, failures into umpire's faults. Anyone else performing better is criticized. Fans have been living in the past glory and would never want to see the legend any less. I am glad, Sachin had been deterrent to the celebrity status and gave his best, but no one is above the nature. Age is catching up with him and shows the impact on his performance. But, fans wouldn't stay in reality and would live in parallel universe. I applaud Sachin for his consistence performance and more than that, raising the the hopes of everyone to mark India in golden writings. Bravo to little master and Adios!! | ||

I am going to say he will get a 50.... but 100.... that will be epic.... but after all this "planned" series from BCCI, an ending like the one he had in domestic circuit might bring with all sorts of conspiracy theories. I wish I was in Wankhede when Sachin walks out..... more than his batting, Sachin walking onto the ground is an event which makes 1 minute feel like an era of bliss. How many of you have witnessed this? In tests, because it has to be with a wicket fall, especially if it is Dravid/Sehwag after a cheap score.... 1st crowd goes silent..... then cheers for SRT's arrival even before they have left the ground..... then it builds up to insane roar...... reaches a crescendo and keeps continuing till Sachin/batsman is ready to play and falls off abruptly...... and if Sachin as much as gets a single.... another huge roar! #EPIC!
