It is the same with every bank. SCB charge 3.1% on total amount, if any / some payment is due. Generally they give 48 days to 55 days (depending on the card you use). Hence if total amount is not paid, then interest will be charged from day 1 of the usage of the card till the date of payment. ante bank will be charge interest for total amount for 55 days credit period + 7 to 10 days bill payment period i.e. approx.65 days interest will be charged. | ||

That is only if you have not even paid the minimum amount..what is the relevance of the minimum amount due otherwise...
The interest (for all banks, not just this case) is calculated from the date of the transaction and not the statement date. So i had spent the 97000 around 25 days before the statement date, it will be caculated on the 50 days or so.
SC reward points mathram keka, 5% points on all spends is phenomenal...most other banks give 1.5 - 2%.. | ||

Brother, adhi valla policy anta..so even i have paid Rs100 short of the full amount, then they charge interest on the full credit card bill... So i was short by 4000 and they charged interest on the entire 97000 from the date of transaction which ended up being 8-9 K. So the interest is more than the amount outstanding 
Even here, if you see the calculation once the guy pays of Rs2000, he is charged interest on the unpaid amount (15000-2000) | ||

I had a bill of 97000 on my Standard Chartered bill last month (because of some overseas travel etc). I did a typo and paid only 93000. When i got this month's bill they put a interest and penalty of around 8000. Standard Chartered's policy is that if i do not pay the full amount, then they charge interest on the full amount and not just what is unpaid. So they charge me interest on the whole 97000 and not just the unpaid 4000. I did not understand the logic and have picked up a fight with them. Essentially they don't discriminate between someone who has not paid even one rupee and someone who has paid 96900 also. Usually for small amounts banks waive these interests and penalty, but here SCB is acting tough as the amount of 8000 is large. Let's see what their latest response is, but i am thinking of writing to the banking ombudsman or the consumer court..it is not the money as much as the fact that it affects my credit history because of these •••••••• policies... Do other credit card companies also have such policies...mee experiences cheppandi.. |
