way off the center.  the point really is that sacramento was hte second biggest city when it became the capital, also the second richest in the state. the union pacific rail had their western most point there. SF was too rowdy for any orderly conduct in the 1850s and socal was a desert. so they chose sacramento and it just stayed that way. but calif is an interesting state. it really has 3 capitals - SF for judiciary, LA for governor and sacra for legislation purposes. balupu s/o gelupu | ||

when has it not dominated AP politics..and for that matter indian politics. I support Vijayawada as capital if it comes down to it. But before Vij I support Vizag as it is more developed.... i have been to nellore and seema. they are wayyy behind Vijayawada. ongole and kurnool ki airports koda levu. if vijayawada is a tier 3 city then ongole/tirupati/seema cities are like tier 23. denemma tirupati lo inka jeeps and ambassadors lo tiruguthunaru.... andaru kalisi adataniki idhi yemaina holy pandaga ? | ||

Caste-based politics is expected to play a prominent role in deciding the Seemandhra capital. One pointer towards this is that politicians from different parties are gravitating towards seats in Vijayawada for the next general elections. Krishna and Guntur districts are dominated by leaders from the Kamma community, while the Reddys have the upper hand in Rayalaseema. "If the Reddy-dominated YSRC or the Congress comes to rule after the elections, there would be no chance of Vijayawada-Guntur becoming the capital, as they would prefer cities in Rayalaseema like Ongole, Tirupati or even Kurnool again," said a YSRC leader.
