OT,
Really admire your persistence and efforts to help others - may the divine mother keep that spirit strong :-)

Jalsa,
Was going to say come to TX - as all the searches I did showed TX agencies at the top - but H1 is an issue - so Delaware seems like the best option for you ..
Pool a group of friends together - share your daughters case details with them and divide who you need to call for information instead of trying to do everything yourself.

Yes, motham chadivaanu. From that website, anything on the border they favor towards making the kid eligible for medicaid.

Eligibility should be of the SSI disability standards, which, I am sure, she is.
Costs wise, they cover private duty nursing.

Did I miss anything?

The DE medicaid representative said that from what i told her she doesn't see any reason why my daughter would not be eligible for medicaid. But i cannot take that for granted and i asked the social/case workers at the hospital. Unfortunately they have not seen anyone from DE state but they said that some obvious cases which should have been accepted got denied and vice-versa.

May be nuvvu cheppinattu oka saari velli matladali leka medical records pampinchi kanukkovaali.

Again, OT, thanks a ton for taking so much time and looking into this. Too many things to take care of at one time. Work kooda chaala negative ga effect avuthundhi deeni valla.

explain this.....is everyone eligible for medicaid ?

Remember, I am applying for my daughter who is a US Citizen.
In NJ, while applying for medicaid, they look at parents' income and resources (savings etc).
But in PA and DE, they don't.

See this: http://dhss.delaware.gov/dhss/dmma/disabledchildren.html

quote:

The financial criteria for this program are the same as that of the DMMA Medicaid Nursing Facility program. The child's gross monthly income cannot exceed 250% of the SSI standard. The child's countable assets cannot exceed $2,000. The parent's income and assets are not considered.

Again, thanks a ton for all the research OT. aa site pani chestey i can try to get some quotes.
but company vallani salary penchamani adagalemu anukunta le :-)
One question, oka vela premium is like 1400$ per month (Gold), is this amount tax deductible like the premium amount we pay through employer? (not that it matters, but still a large amount).
1400 per month antey, almost equal amount as rent and other baby's day care - this i might have to find an alternative like sending to India.
But if all the other coverage is same, then, it might be worth trying this.
I have to sign-up for my company's insurance by 18th of this month - so I have to push my manager to give me a answer soon.

obamacare a) BANS lifetime maximum limits on insurance plans b) Should not deny pre-existing conditions

aa rendu conditions lo nuvvu ye private insurance(who covers PDN) daggaraki poyinaa should not be a problem at all...

While talking to them

a) use " Private Duty Nursing(short form PDN )" word cautiously. "Skilled Nursing Care" is different from PDN though functionalities sound similar...

b) How many hours per week/month AND how many such months per year are allowed anedhi key

Hmm- I was reading a texas state doc just now and they said you could show the medical bills as deductions from income - but I guess since you are not yet incurring those bills they don't show up on your tax return..but it might help to put that out as projected expenses when you talk to the people

Did you check the places listed in this resource guide?

http://specialeducation.rutgers.edu/resource_dir.pdf

Yeah by residency - I was asking if you are on H1 on GC

You are welcome :-) hope you feel better soon
.MDCP may be specific to Tx then- my friend said it was a fed program - but she may have been mistaken . The waiver program sounds like another tx prog she said they got in thru a lottery.,

United way - www.211.org has alt numbers - did you try those ? Persist till you speak to someone there ..

PA has more aid ante it may definitely be worth the move for you.. But check residency rqmts too - do you all know how long the care will be needed? And a lot may depend on your residency status too :-)

Oh wow!!! Thanks Anand garu, thanks a lot for looking into this! Thanks to everyone. Sorry I could not post earlier as i was really sick.

Let me tell you who I have approached so far:
1) NJ state medicaid - Denied
2) NJ state "Split" application medicaid - Denied
3) SSI (federal) welfare benefits - Denied
All three denied based on income and resources like checking accounts.
4) Anand garu, i couldn't find what is MDCP - but I think it's similar to a program called NJ Waiver program (CRPD). http://www.state.nj.us/humanservices/dds/ohcs/waiver/crpd/
This program has limited number of intake per year (~300). As of today, there are still lot of others in front of us.
From the above website

quote:

Private-duty nursing is limited for each beneficiary to a maximum of 16 hours per day from all payment sources. As mentioned earlier, it will be provided only when there is a live-in primary caregiver (adult relative or significant other adult) who accepts 24-hour responsibility for the health and welfare of the beneficiary.

We were hoping to qualify for this program, but one of the representative from the above called us and told us that they are not covering 16hrs of nursing anymore. They might cover at most 10 hours a day. Again, as I said, as of today, there are quite a few applicants ahead of us and we have to apply every year.

For the remaining 8-6hrs of nursing a day has to be paid by us, which is like 50$ an hour for a registered nurse ($12K-$9K per month). The CICRF link you posted has to be applied at the end of every year. Now, I am trying to find out from them if I would be eligible for this and if there is a cap in the amount they would refund.

Anand garu, i called the NJ family care number and they said they will not be able to help in our situation. I called Unitey Way number and had to leave a message.

Jalsa's daughter will be needing in-home nursing care once she is discharged from the hospital - and that is an expensive proposition - so just trying to help find some agencies/foundations that will offer financial support for this kind of health care needs not covered by insurance.

General instructions for UW..

I need help with medical issues, or other services.

The best way to find available resources in your area is by calling our 2-1-1 help number. It's a 3-digit number like 9-1-1, but for access to health and human services. Calling 2-1-1 will get you a trained resource and referral specialist, who will know what services are available in your area. Sometimes the 2-1-1 line can be a problem from a cell phone, or may not yet be available in your immediate area. If you can't get through on 2-1-1, you can go to www.211.org and type in your zip code. It will usually provide an alternate number.

If you are having medical issues, you might also want to check with the case manager/social worker at your local medical facility. They are often very helpful in accessing available resources. If you have trouble, you can call your local United Way and they may be able to point you in the right direction. To find your local United Way, return to the liveunited.org home page and type your zip code in the top right.

And here's a thought for the DBers, especially those in NJ...came to me as I was googling this stuff..:-)

Ask around , google , and try to find out about any resources in NJ who can offer these services...

It just helps to have many eyes searching ..and if you can apare some time ,call and find out the eligibility requirements, the paperwork that needs to be submitted etc..

There is only so much a pair of parents can do - any prework done will help Jalsa and his wife, so they do not have to spend time chasing things that may not work out..

Consolidate the list ont he DB so people do not call the same place twice ...

What do you all think ?

Also if you have not already - talk to NJ FamilyCare call 1-800-701-0710

And since I heard of Any Baby can from United Way - It may be worth giving the NJ wing of United Way a call to see if they can help..

Jalsa,
I posted last night in the other thread after talking to a friend who has needed nursing care for her child fow many years now...

Reposting as it might get lost in that thread..

Spoke to a friend who has a child with similar needs ..
She said first thing to do is to register for MDCP - it has a long wait list- you probably already have
Then she said you should check with your state - they got help from Texas' CWP
Any baby can - is the agency I was talking about and she said they got help from them as well..I am not sure if they operate in NJ..

This morning she sent me a link to the NJ state services. I found this page that you might be eligible for

http://www.state.nj.us/humanservices/cicrf/home/what/

Try cheyyandi - and if you can get a case worker from an agency like Any baby Can, that will help ani kuda chepparu..

If you would like to talk to her, PM me - I do not have your email so posting here ...
