Friday 8:30 PM show. Theater almost full. My analysis The movie starts with plot unfolding. Weak introduction of PK left me waiting for more. Boman Irani was ok as the ailing grand father and the plot became clear in first 10 min. Movie picks up pace once PK reaches Hyd. The first thing that started making uneasy is the financial clout he has and slapping employees for no reason. Clean fun would have been better. The plot would have been better if PK was a normal person with limited resources to win his atta Praneetha as first heroine was refreshing. She is cute. Samantha was passable, she had more make up than I wished. Her acting career started and ended in YMC (Dookudu was ok). The first half left me wanting more. The interval bang was ok (For first half I would say 2.75 for 5). Comedy was average. Movie picks up in the second half. Entrance of Bemmi bought in more comedy. Gladiator spoof was good and I personally liked the Ahalya episode (only first 3). Then it got dragged and the initial comic got diluted. Baba song was refreshing. Plot is simple but the strength of the movie was in last 15 min, where PK reveals the full story. You side with Nadia when Rao Ramesh gets shot, but begin to sympathize with PK for losing his mother (What got me off guard was that they never informed of the tragedy to Nadia, why?) Performance: PK has screen presence, improved on comedy timing and ease of take. I liked his performa nce in the last scene. Dance was below par. Fights were really bad. Praneetha is good. Samantha was ok. Comedy was good. Bemmi and Ali shared the time. Selling point for the movie were the few episodes and climax emotion. Nadiya, Rao ramesh got screen time and did well. MS was fine, but his gaddam did not suit well. Boman and Mukesh were just ok. Rest of group in Nadiya's house got 1 dialog each and under utilized AD is a tested plot (from Simhadri) and comedy added. Final twists made it refreshing to walk out from theater. PK deserves applause for convincing to come back in last scene. He was clueless all of the movie of how to get her back so the final scene had the impact. Songs do not have repeat value. Save the illogical taking for the haters and watch it with no expectations. DB in one way extremizes ratings. AD is a good watch on the big screen for PK and sporadic comedy Rating: 3.5/5 (without last 30 min, it 3/5) PS: Personally for me in PK movies TP > Khushi > GS > Jalsa > AD I am struck by the lightning of love and burnt beyond repair - Florentino Ariza |
