Ranchi station looked no different from Vizag ..
trains lo tribal people chala veltundevaru they had no proper clothing mostly one long cloth undedi valla vanti meeda ..
Lalu firmly opposed the split .. after bihar split lalus party was on decline ..
I think tribals benefited after the formation of new state. there are more skilled tribal workers now .

Surprising that Bihar lost much but was able to start a recovery. Jharkand got most of the resources but have have gone backwards.

Though the word 'development' has the least significance in Bihar, the carving out of a separate state of Jharkhand has already had its impact on the state.

Unlike other states such as Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, which were also divided to give birth to Uttaranchal and Chhattisgarh, the creation of Jharkhand was relatively painful for Bihar. It was more than a loss of few districts and 81 assembly seats for Bihar.

Jharkhand is endowed with about 40% of the mineral wealth of the country. The total value of mineral production is pegged at around Rs 3,000 crore. The region accounts for 35.5% of the country's known coal reserves, 90% of its cooking coal deposits, 40% of its copper, 22% of its iron ore, 90% of its mica and huge deposits of bauxite, quartz and ceramics.

It is home to the largest steel plant in Bokaro, apart from the steel city of Jamshedpur — home to Tisco and Telco.

The five-year old state of Jharkhand is home to the mineral-rich areas of Bokaro, Chatra, Deogarh, Dhanbad, Dumka, Garhwa, Giridih, Godda, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Kodarma, Lohardaga and Pakur. It is rich in flora and fauna and receives good rainfall.

That's not all. The region, which now forms the state of Jharkhand, was the biggest sales tax earner for Bihar. At the time of separation, Jharkhand was earning Rs 1,200 crore out of Bihar's total sales tax collection of Rs 1,700 crore.

This is a continuation to the thread from 2 days back. Jharkand got all the power plants and major industrial cities when they separated from Bihar.
