When it comes to details, these two sentences can translate into almost allowing Andhras to squeeze whatever revenue Hyderabad generates for the next 10 years and also allow them to takeover whatever resources that are leftover by them until now Issue 1: Water & Power: Here is what CWC resolution says: "To establish, simultaneously and within a definite time frame, institute mechanism to address the concerns of the people of the region of Andhra, Rayalaseema on matters relating to (but not limited to) the sharing of river waters, generation and distribution of electricity, safety and security of all residents in all the three regions, and the guarantee of the fundamental rights of all residents." My take on this: On water, we all know that this has not only to do with the existing Bachawat and Brijesh Kumar tribunal stipulations (on which our state has failed miserably to protect the interests of Telangana vis-a-vis the both the tribunal's awards) but also the day-time robbery of Krishna waters that belong to Telangana from both above (Rayalaseema) and below (Delta) and also that of the Godavari waters on the name of Polavaram and also on the disguise of unable to lift waters to Telangana. With Central Government consisting of totally Congress Ministers and the kind of dirty lobbying that we have seen from Andhra Congressmen for the past 50 years and at the same time failure of our own Telangana congressmen in positively lobbying for, I see a steep task ahead for us on this front to ensure that we get our interests protected in the bill. In my opinion, getting the Telangana state where we cannot get our due share of waters to our farmers is not worth getting at all. My take on this: We (Telanganites) already got involved on this issue technically and took it into the legal sphere. So it is not that easy for the Central Government or Andhra lobby to do more deceit on this front and get going on Polavaram. But we have to be very cautious and try to work meticulously with Orissa and Chhattisgarh (which we have been doing already) but also take more and more aggressive approach (pro-active rather reactive) on this issue. I am personally very much involved on this issue on legal front and so I am sure this will not be a cake-walk to Andhras. Issue 3: Hyderabad: Here is what CWC resolution says: "To declare that Hyderabad will be the common capital of both states for a period of ten years after the formation of the State of Telangana and to put in place legal and administrative measures to ensure that both State Governments can function efficiently from the common capital during the said period of ten years." My take on this: It would take not more than a year to come up with a Secretariat, Assembly and High Court. What else do you need for a Capital city? Well, this very lousy and loose language that is mentioned in the resolution about Hyderabad is of high concern. When it comes to details, these two sentences can translate into almost allowing Andhras to squeeze whatever revenue Hyderabad generates for the next 10 years and also allow them to takeover whatever resources that are leftover by them until now. All the above three issues should be amicably resolved, the bill should take shape with any and all hurdles crossed on these issues and finally the bill should be passed. I am sure we have a long way to go in the next 4 to 5 months of time. Then only would be my real congratulations to all Telanganites. This real estate is for sale. | ||
