I dont content which is more complex over the other. I thought Mani sugar coated Sakhi to make it more reachable. Mouna ragam lo ala kaadu.. no sugar coating. He brings out the intense emotions in the characters..he depicts revathy as a timid daughter who silently rebels her family by falling in love with Karthik and when circumstances force her to marry Mohan..her contempt towards Mohan .. her difficulty to come to terms with fate and situations ..you see Mani's brilliance all over it. Mouna ragam and Sakhi are two opposite scenarios..both done very well I felt. Alaipayuthey is more complex of the two though. Adjusting to losing the love is easier - Revathi can blame fate and take it out on Mohan...while deifying Karthik to an ideal  But adjusting to dashed expectations after finding love is more difficult - you cannot indulge in self-pity and it starts a spiral of second guessing...kind of like finding out your idol has feet of clay.. As the director shows, Shalini is very closer to her sister and her sister even encourages Shalini to get married to Madhavan. How can that relationship just disapper? it all boils down to the choices a character or person makes. different people can make different choices, and we can justify most of the choices a sane person makes, even when they seemingly make a mistake. Matrix lo Neo character is an good case study. the one thing which doesn't impress you in this movie could be that neither of the protagonists are perfect as in most of the other movies they make decisions, hasty ones most of the times, give in to circumstances they created...stand up to adversity by bringing changes in themselves rather than surroundings without much melodrama in their personalities... how dramatic are we in real life if you are facing emotional issues as these? yea, as usual tamil OA untaadhee but this is one movie that should be seen beyond dat inka selavu | ||
