When Delhi media forced CM to apologise Chief Minister K Rosaiah often thinks he is too smart in handling the media and can get away by making sarcastic comments against them. In Hyderabad, he does resort to this trick and shouts down media persons asking embarrassing questions. He tried to repeat the same in Delhi while addressing a press conference on Friday. But the Delhi media is smarter than he expected and he was forced to say “sorry” for sounding a bit rude with them. When a national media reporter asked him as to what he had said about the Justice Srikrishna committee in the Congress Working Committee meeting, Rosaiah got irritated and said sarcastically that he would advise the CWC leadership to call the media to its next meeting so that they would know what would be discussed. He also made a similar comment when another reporter asked him what he had written to Chidambaram on the situation prevailing in the state. “Next time when I want to write a letter to Chidambaram, I will release the letter to the media first and then tell Chidambaram to read the letter in the media the next day,” he said. While he thought his remark would evoke laughter in the media, one of the reporters told him that it was not proper on his part to take the queries from the media so lightly. Rosaiah said: “sorry, I did not mean it,” and went on to explain that he did not talk about the Srikrishna committee at the CWC meeting at all. |

Rosaiah silent, as PC pulls up leaders Chief Minister K Rosaiah went to New Delh well prepared to tell the Congress high command how the Telangana agitation was creating troubles for the government and causing huge loss to the state in welfare and development. But what he faced at the Congress Working Committee was said to be totally a different situation. Home Minister P Chidambaram took a long lecture as to how the political parties, including the local Congress leaders, created an embarrassing situation to Sonia Gandhi and the party as a whole by adopting double standards on Telangana issue. He also indirectly took a dig at the chief minister as well for his inept handling of the situation and allowed the situation to precipitate. The Chief Minister had no answer to any of the issues raised by Chidambaram and remained silent, except on one occasion when he talked about the crippling financial position in the state. He only asked the Centre to expedite the process of formulating terms and conditions for the Srikrishna committee. |

Narasimhan has started roaring! Governor E S L Narasimhan is trying to establish that he is not a rubber-stamp governor nor a fun lover confining himself to four walls of Raj Bhavan enjoying prostitutes as his predecessor N D Tiwari had allegedly done. He is using his discretionary powers to assert his position. On Thursday, Narasimhan rejected the file of the state government recommending the names for the posts of vice-chancellors for Yogi Vemana University in Kadapa and Telangana University in Nizamabad. He re-appointed a Telangana man for Kadapa University and is most probably choose a non-Telanganite for the Telangana university. This, he felt, would remove partiality in decision making at the universities. Chief Minister K Rosaiah is learnt to be upset with Narasimhan’s decisions; but did not dare to question him because he was picked up by the Congress high command. So, the CMO has chosen to issue a clarification on Friday, saying that Narasimhan’s decision was indeed that of the state government, which had made last minute changes in the file; and as such, the Governor had accepted the government’s recommendation only. |
