FOR ME...1996 defeat... Very painful.. i remember when we are going to play cricket after few days..few people stopped us and scolded "vaalu Denga pettaru..meeru velli ground lo denga pettandi" ani bhootulu dobbaaru. they even tried to take our bats. antha frustration lo unaaru janaalu a time lo.. i even throwed remote onto TV after we lost..narrowly missed and remote break ayindi. will never forget 96 loss... I think Dhawan's injury messed-up balance of our team. Rahul moved to #4 which made middle order really weak and too much reliance on Rohit at the top. This also forced management to keep changing playing XI and eventually cost us WC. Imagine this team. 2015 WC semis and 2003 final loses were kind of similar given the huge total to chase and AUS being opponent...by end of AUS innings and 350 +...nobody had high hopes Thought of turning off the TV in the morning when the score was 5/3...but had some hope as Pant and Pandya started scoring...I thought if they make another 100 runs with no more wicket down then Dhoni and Jadeja could pull it off.....went to work and was getting the score updates ../kind of superstitious as was not watching on TV and IND might win...we were so close..only true champions could pull off that 18 run difference..hard luck Doesn't matter if the team is # 1 position or # 10...only WC championship matters Sunday WC done...no big noise till next 4 yrs Dhoni missed his best farewell 2019 NBA WORLD CHAMPIONS || WE THE NORTH |
