H1 specifically, are like golden goose to the US econ system..

normuskuni all fees, wait times, tolerate
work for lowest to low salaries ( WITCH )
no representation officially

but selectively taxing them, is an outright discrimination - that wont float as an idea..

like i said, they will try to empty our purses in different way.. mainly H1 fees increase, force all H1 aspirants to do some US Masters, etc.. these serve same purpose, but are legal atleast..

//if you work, SS radhu.

after 67 years I think u can work and still get SS benefits

You can begin to work and continue to receive SSI benefits as long as your wages and other resources do not exceed the SSA’s income limit for SSI; however, your monthly benefit amount will be reduced in proportion to your income.
Here's how the SSA reduces your income. Both the federal benefit amount and the SSI income limit is $771 (in 2019). The SSA will reduce your benefit by the amount of your countable income. If your only income is from your job, the SSA does not include the first $85 you earn toward your countable income.
After taking the $85 adjustment off of your income, the SSA will deduct, from your monthly benefits, 50 cents for every dollar you earn. Here is an example of a person who earns $1,000 a month from working: $1,000 - $85 = $915 ÷ 2 = $457.50. The individual’s monthly SSI benefit amount would be reduced by $457.50.
Your monthly benefit amount is also affected by the amount your state adds to the federal SSI payment, if any. For more information, see our article on how much SSI pays.
If your SSI payments stop because you earn too much money (that is, if your countable income is over $771 per month), but you are subsequently forced to quit work because of your disability, the SSA will reinstate your benefits without the need for a new application for a period of five year

Just recently did the math, if you have 2M in 401k, assuming 7% return n discounting to current time, it will give you 75k an year. Think if you can live with that amount with house paid off
Very rough numbers - assumption here is your investments are still indexed and not in bonds which means you are still playing long term game with 401k , any remaining amount will go to kids

some healthy, necessary disco..

SSN mgmt.. worst ga unnadi - fact

but i DONT think there will be defaults ( like some1 below says manam katte daniki 25% istaru etc ) cos that will just be illegal..

i would tend to believe.. SSN money will be squeezed from other avenues ( like H1 fee increase, tax increase, etc ) that are easy to negotiate..

SSN benefits entire US prejanikam depenendet.. they cant touch..
ika H1 vallaki clause petti .. edo manaki anyayam cheste.. will cause outrage i believe..

On an average how many years will an Indian(in US) live ?

To an extent you will know based on ur family history. Like how many years ur grand father etc lived.

But these days life expectancies increased

You shouldn't outlive ur savings period.

Don't count on social security, it's on the verge of going broke.

manamretire ayye time ki, if we get 25% of what we paid, adhe padivelu.
I could introduce myself properly, but it's not really necessary. You will know me well enough and soon enough, depending on a diverse range of variables. It suffices to say that at some point in time, I will be standing over you, as genially as possible. Your soul will be in my arms. A color will be perched on my shoulder. I will carry you gently away....

If you pay social security taxes, you will get some SS money. but the amount depends on how much you contributed all your working years.

Ramjirao:

If you consider 401K is only your post job income then these numbers looks good. but if you have other forms of investment, not necessarly u need to meet these numbers.

these pension/retirement platforms come up with these numbers so that they can eat your retirement pot in the form of fees/commissions.

good retirement pot is needed, but at the same time balance your investments

Fidelity has some pretty concrete ideas. By the time you’re 30, the company calculates you should have saved half of your annual salary. If you are earning $50,000 by age 30, you should have $25,000 banked for retirement.

By age 40, you should have twice your annual salary. By age 50, four times your salary; by age 60, six times, and by age 67, eight times. If you reach 67 years old and are earning $75,000 per year, you should have $600,000 saved.
