It is built by China in the name of trade,but in reality it is for defense and strategic purpose and also to counter US and Indian dominance in South China Sea.It want's a strategic hold and hegemony in Arabian Sea China has taken over Gawadar port and is building a Naval base (including deploying of Nuclear submarines),in the name security to it's merchant ships The road from Gawadar port will be connected to China ,is for quick deployment of troops. The chines may use this route for transporting oil and other good,but it will be negligible ,as it is not cost effective as most of the consumption is in eastern part of China,which will be very far The funny part is China had loaned (around $40 to $50 billion) money to Pakistan for the project at 11% effective interest rate for this road and other associated projects undertaken in CPEC.The terms of loan are ridiculous too (and agreements are not in public as they are declared as classified docs).All work is done by Chinese companies,with Chinese workers and labor (around 1.50 lakh chinese workers are working in pakistan),using material and machinery imported from China.The Chinese are exempted from all duties and taxes.The Chinese are paid in lcoal currency for all work by Chinese companies but billed to Pakistan in USD Paksitan a raised a 15k soldiers regiment exclusively for providing security to the project as most part of it passes through insurgency prone Balochistan who are against it At the end of the day Pakistan does not know how to even get returns of the investments ,to even pay the interests which will be starting to paid soon.Even if the collect $1000 per chinese truck as toll tax,they can not even pay a fraction of interest China has literally started colonizing Pakistan ,like East India Company way. Just like it happened in Srilanka and other African Countries,Pakistan will soon part some of it's territory to China in-lieu of the billions of dollars it owes to China | ||
