I am not sure if this is correct. Tamil nadu lo chala sarlu DMK, aiadmk 0 or 1 seats vacchina rojulu unnayi. so i think once you get recognized as a state party you will maintain it for 10 or 15 years. national party definitions choosthe BSP, CPI, CPM etc does not qualify if they are reviewed every election. Taken from a facebook post: What happens to TDP's State Party status in Telangana? There have been multiple views about TDP's state party status in Telangana following its dismal performance in the recently concluded assembly elections. Here is what the law says. Any political party has to satisfy one of the five conditions to be recognized as a state party in any state. They have to keep satisfying these conditions after every general election to the state assembly or general election to the Lok Sabha 1. Secure at least 6% of the valid vote & win at least 2 seats in an Assembly General Election 2. Secure at least 6% of the valid vote & win at least 1 seats in a Lok Sabha General Election 3. Win at least 3% of the seats or at least 3 seats , whichever is more, in an Assembly General Election 4. Win at least 1 out of every 25 seats from a state in a Lok Sabha General Election 5. Secure at least 8% of the total valid vote in an Assembly or a Lok Sabha General Election The TDP does not satisfy any of the conditions listed above except one of them since it polled only 3.5% votes in the Telangana elections & won only 2 assembly seats. But as it stands today, it does satisfy one of the conditions, since Malla Reddy won on a TDP ticket in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. So TDP has 1 out of 17 MPs from Telangana from the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The review of this status happens after every general election. So even if the review does not happen now, it will take place after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. If the TDP does not win any seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Telangana, it stands to lose its state party status in Telangana.
