fafesh, if you are concerned about mercury avoid tuna
ayina tuna salad eti...daantlo mayannaise free mari...okay naa?

health perspective
couple of species which get overlooked are
anchovies ( nethallu in telugu...coastal delight anamaata) ...either canned or dried ( i prefer dried as you can eat the bones - "calcium")
sardines

ivi low levels of mercury...high EFA(essential fatty acids)...and rich in iron and other nutrients alogn with protein

week kee 3 times salmon 6-7 oz serving...and 2-3 times of the little ones I mentioned above will give you the desired nutrition from fish

about salmon:
it is a "fatty" fish...with the healthy fats being closer to the skin than the flesh
so when you cook it the fats melt and stick closer to skin...if you dont eat the skin or its surrounding "white fat" you could as well get the protein from somewhere else

so grill/bake the salmon and eat the skin...dont waste money on fancy fillet cuts

salmon head tho pulusss edithay untaadhiiiii...yummmm
alagay namasthay

TUNA VS SALMON

A 3-ounce serving of cooked skipjack tuna contains 110 calories, 24 grams of protein and trace amounts of fat, including 278 milligrams of omega-3 fats. The same-sized serving of cooked wild Atlantic salmon contains 160 calories, 22 grams of protein and 5 grams of fat, including 2 grams of saturated fat and 1,564 milligrams of omega-3 fats. Tuna is a leaner fish, which means it contains less unhealthy saturated fat but also less of the healthy omega-3 fats.

Mercury Content

Mercury, a heavy metal element, can cause brain or kidney damage as well as damage to a developing fetus. Mercury contaminates the air through industrial pollution. The mercury then accumulates in rivers and streams. Microscopic organisms in the water and soil convert mercury to methylmercury. As fish and shellfish eat, the methylmercury accumulates in them. Some fish contain higher levels of mercury than others. White albacore tuna contains more mercury than canned light tuna. Therefore, the Food and Drug Administration advises it is safe to eat up to 12 oz. of canned light tuna per week but to restrict the consumption of albacore tuna to 6 oz. per week.
