In what is considered to be the worst kind of politics, Telugu Desam Party has gone to the extent of alleging nexus between former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Indian Mujahideen terrorist Syed Maqbool. TDP official spokesman Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu on Tuesday sought to know why YSR government had granted remission to Maqbool, who was earlier involved in various terrorist activities and killings in the state. âIt has been established that Maqbool had connections in Saudi Arabia. Yet, YSR had granted him pardon and got him released from jail in advance on the ground that he had good conduct. But the fact is that YSR had used Maqbool to transfer his ill-gotten money to Saudi,â Muddukrishnama Naidu said. The TDP leader demanded that home minister Sabita Indra Reddy should explain why Maqbool was granted remission, though he had links with terror outfits. He also demanded that the NIA should probe into this issue and unearth the reasons that led to YSR government granting remission to Maqbool. That is height of hatred, Mr Naidu. Everybody knows Maqbool had served imprisonment for nine years and had behaved well while he was in the jail. Hyderabad, March 5: Governor E S L Narasimham on Tuesday signed the file relating to the cancellation of remission granted to Syed Maqbool, a suspected Indian Mujahhiden operative, who was allegedly involved in carrying on recce in the Dilsukhnagar blast site in the city in June last. The file recommending cancellation of the remission was sent to the Governor yesterday, by the chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, following the recent Dilsukhnagar bomb blasts. The chief Minister who held a review meeting with the officials here on Monday, decided to transfer the bomb blasts case to National Investigation Agency (NIA), and also to cancel the remission granted to Syed Maqbool. The chief minister sent the file relating to Syed Maqbool on Monday itself for approval of the Governor. The Governor gave his approval today. Syed Maqbool was sentenced to life in the year 2000 in connection with an alleged murder case under the Afzalgunj police station limits in the Capital. In 2009, the State Government headed by late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy has granted remission to Maqbool, for good conduct, in connection with august 15. His release was, however, delayed and he was ultimately released from jail on October 2, 2010, by the then Chief Minister K Rosaiah, who had implemented the earlier orders. The action of Dr Reddy in releasing Syed Maqbool came in for criticism then itself. The Delhi police had, however, arrested him in connection with the blast in Pune last year and lodged him in Tihar jail. The NIA officials had brought Maqbool to Hyderabad last Friday, with the permission of the jail authorities; questioned him and his associates here, and sent him back to Tihar on Monday. Syed Maqbool, the Indian Mujahideen operative suspected to be involved in the recent Dilsukhnagar blasts in Hyderabad blast, made sensational comments in New Delhi on Tuesday, stating that he would come out of the jail within three months. Maqbool, who was released by the YSR government from jail on remission in 2009, was arrested again in October 2012 in connection with Pune blasts and is presently in NIA custody. He was brought to Hyderabad five days ago in connection with Hyderabad blasts and was taken back to Delhi on Monday. On Tuesday, when the NIA authorities were producing him before the court, Maqbool spotted some reporters of Telugu channels at the court. He called them and told them in Telugu that he would come out of the jail within three months. He was all smiles while talking to the media.
