Allocation for Tourism Hiked by 87 Crore in the Union Budget. Keeping in view the importance of Tourism sector, the allocation for Ministry of Tourism in the Union Budget presented today has been hiked by Rs.87.66 crore. The allocation for the Ministry this year is Rs.1297.66 crore while it was Rs. 1210 crore in the Union Budget 2012-13 and Rs. 1110.96 crore in the Union Budget 2011-12. The Budget allocation for Plan projects/schemes for the benefit of North East region and Sikkim has been hiked from Rs. 121 crore to Rs. 129 crore. The allocation under this head in the Union budget 2011-2012 was 110 crore. The allocation under tourist infrastructure is for the creation of infrastructural facilities on construction of Budget Accommodation, wayside amenities, Tourist Reception Centers, Refurbishment of Monuments, Special Tourism Projects, Adventure and Sports facilities, Sound and Light Shows, illuminations of monuments, providing for improvement in solid waste management and sewerage management improvement of surroundings, Signages, procurement of equipments directly related to Tourism and Rural Tourism projects etc. This provision also relates to the Large Revenue Generating projects, generating revenue through levy of fees or user charges like Tourist Trains, cruise vessels, Cruise terminals, Convention Centre, Golf Courses etc. and creation of land bank for hotels to provide the hotel accommodation in the country by purchasing land and build hotels through public private partnerships. The provision also includes Externally Aided Projects (including UNDP Endogenous Tourist Projects and assistance to c entral agencies for Tourism Infrastructural Development. Chiranjeevi is my God! he outburst by Kadapa Congress leaders G Veera Siva Reddy and N Varadarajulu Reddy against endowments minister C Ramachandraiah in connection with the cooperative society elections in the district is said to have terribly upset megastar-union minister K Chiranjeevi. Both the Congress leaders accused Ramachandraiah, along with health minister D L Ravindra Reddy, of sabotaging the Congress party prospects in Kadapa cooperative elections and helping YSR Congress party candidates. They even alleged that Ramachandraiah was contemplating joining the YSR Congress sooner or later and demanded that he be sacked from the Kiran cabinet. Interestingly, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is also not very happy with Ramchandraiah, as he had been a close friend of D L Ravindra Reddy. On many occasions, Ramachandraiah also made critical comments against the Kiran government. So, one won’t be surprised if Kiran sacks both the ministers from Kadapa. According to reports from New Delhi, Chiranjeevi reportedly registered his protest with Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana. He did not talk to the Chief Minister, but brought it to the notice of AICC incharge of Andhra affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad. He told the high command that Ramachandraiah had played a key role in Praja Rajyam Party and was his trusted lieutenant. As such, there is no question of Ramachandraiah joining the Jagan party, Chiranjeevi told the party leadership. | ||

The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism, Dr. K. Chiranjeevi at a bilateral meeting with the Minister for Tourism, Canada, Mr. Maxime Bernier, in New Delhi on February 26, 2013. Mr Maxime Bernier, Minister of Tourism, Canada called on Union Tourism Minister Shri K Chiranjeevi here today. Both sides resolved to strengthen cooperation in tourism sector. It was also decided that both the countries will identify areas for working together and exploring new opportunities in tourism sector especially in the field of human resources development, exchange of tour operators, investment in the tourism sector and exchange of information related to tourism sector. The possibility of signing an agreement/MoU between India and Canada was also discussed. It was also agreed that Tour Operators and Travel Agents of both the countries will interact with each other in order to promote for two way tourism between India and Canada. The possibilities of promoting more package tours in either of the countries could also be explored by the travel trade of two countries. Both sides also explored the possibilities of promoting joint venture in the field of hotel industry and tourism infrastructural sector. Now that Hotels and Tourism sector has been opened for Foreign direct investment up to 100% on automatic routes, Canadian investment in tourism infrastructure in India could be one of the major areas of cooperation.
