Superb OT maayaa. Lets see by how much margin does Ooosarvilli beats Dookudu by end of 1st week. Overall top is Magadheeraa. So fight between Dookudu and Oosarvilli is for 2nd psoition. Jp Jeetha Wohi SIkkander. My gutt feeling is Jr Mahesh ni emi peekaledu as far as Overseas is concerned. Could be same with Nizam. Lets see over all AP who is Sikkander. Dookudu - run of the mill story with avg content and OOsar - variety story with above average content | ||

Oosaravelli has a rock solid story. That is a pleasant surprise. Every character in the movie has an important role to play and there is no separate comedy track to provide the laughs. At the very beginning of the movie, a hapless small scale don poses a question "Who is Tony?" to a character who then launches a diatribe about the protagonist of the movie in excruciating detail leaving no stone unturned right from the orthopedic composition of the protagonist to his central nervous system and finally to the Napoleon heart that beats only forty times a minute. Before you ask the inevitable question, Tony is the protagonist with his name tattooed on his neck with a friendly bar code underneath just in case you have a short term memory span. Oosaravelli, meaning chameleon, is how Tony is known as. However there is nothing chameleon about him when he is given a task. He is so devoted to his task that he sees nothing else. Place your target amidst a thousand extras and for Tony, only the target is visible. The diatribe I have earlier talked about ensures that your expectations from the movie are set at a level from where they can only improve. And they certainly do. Surender Reddy, surprises us quite often with a racy screenplay that moves at a snail's pace at times but still manages to keep your hearts beat at 70. (You do have a Napoleon Heart, don't you?) Oosaravelli has a rock solid story. That is a pleasant surprise. Every character in the movie has an important role to play and there is no separate comedy track to provide the laughs. Now, that is something we cannot say about most Telugu movies these days. The movie, though has some humor doses in the first half, is singularly serious from the half way point. That is because the story has no scope for humor. There’s a thread about a stupid don - that is quite entertaining and is also integral to the main thread of the movie. Oosaravelli is not a one man show. Of course NTR can act. He does a tremendously decent job of the task. But the surprise element is Tamannah who shows, for perhaps the first time on the Telugu screen, that she can really act. She has as much importance in this movie as NTR if not more. What works in Oosaravelli are the performances of everyone, the screenplay, the story and the background score. What pulls the movie down are the placement of songs, singers who don't know a word of Telugu and some "fan elements" though I understand that in the context of the current Telugu movie market, such elements are necessary to please the audience. But if the reaction of the audience in my show is any indication, that last song's placement is really preposterous and downright crazy. I believe my fellow B and C center audience would echo my sentiments. Oosaravelli is a violent movie. It is so violent that in comparison Final Destination looks like a Disney movie. There is so much of gory that could have been done away with. Violence makes an impact if it is implicit. In this movie, it is so in-your-face that you feel like you are reading a "Dummies Guide to Drive Screwdrivers into One’s Palms". There is only so much that the family audience can take! In between all these killings happening on the screen, we find that there is some collateral damage. Logic is nowhere to be found. There are sequences in the movie when you simply can't fathom what is happening on the screen even after discounting the fact that this is a Telugu movie. For instance, in the climax showdown - there is an out of the world acrobatic episode involving NTR and a wooden chair that defies all norms and sticks out like a sore thumb. We know that Surender Reddy is capable of better stuff. It would be interesting to watch Surender Reddy directing a small hero. All said and done, Oosaravelli is enjoyable ride and a satisfying experience. Watch it for the story line and Tamannah's acting prowess, if you need reasons beyond the three letter acronym - N T R whose infectious energy pervades us all.
