I was trying to fix whatever broke in the first place. I did not want to do you method everytime I need edit one of these 100s of files kada. When I tried idle's method, there was no .htm or .html file type at all. that was weird. So, I clicked on new and added one. Right away all the notepad icons became firefox icons. After that when I try to edit, it opens in MS word. However, whatever happened. I am happy. Thank you everyone. My imaginary friend went away for an year in search of his brain! | ||

I have a 100 of these. If I don't do root cause I have to do this open word, browse to the folder that is 10 deep and double click on the file I want to edit every time right, that's why I was trying to fix whatever broke in the first place. It used to work fine twitter. I changed nothing. MS word is installed since forever. When I copy-paste the file into word and select save as, there are zillion options and one of them is .htm/.html and it saves the file as .htm, which is fine by me. I will see if the file associations got messed up somehow. My imaginary friend went away for an year in search of his brain! | ||

G1K, i think you are trying in server where MS word is not installed , you can't open it with word, Now change the extension to .txt and it opens in Notepad after making changes change the extension back to .htm or from notepad itself you can save the file with .htm extension. | ||

There is no open with option. Only open and edit. And both are opening the file in notepad with garbage background html code. Root cause fix cheppandi idea vunte. How do I fix it so edit option will open in word and open will open in browser. These are html files that always opened in browser before. I have this weird situation where I am not able to double click on .htm files and open them in browser. I used to be able to right click and select edit and the file would open in MS word. These are all files originally saved vis MS word as .htm files Now when I save the file as .htm, it saves as a .htm file, but the icon next to it is notepad. When I doubleclick the file it opens it notepad and shows all garbage html instead of the actual content. Seems like the file associations all got messed up. Does anyone know how to fix this?
