=IF(ISERROR(FIND("B",A1)),"",A1) 1. put all the data in one column say A, then paste above function in cell B1, if A1 has name it puts name in B1 or else empty 2. Drag the formula to all rows 3. copy B column 4, go to another sheet and right click on any cell and select paste special and select "only values" 5. sort the column to eliminate empty rows RahulGandhi/JP/Chiru |

Try If function. Something like this, =If("cell"=B, B, "") ...and I am never gonna dance again...guilty feet I have got no rhythm...though its easy to pretend...I know you are not a fool...I should've known better than to cheat a friend...wasted chance that I'been given...so I am never gonna dance again...the way I danced with you... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQtlrBziyzI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zALiyJ02k_Y

Guttonkay:I have a large file. I need to find rows that have B in them name and put them in a new worksheet. Is there a way to do this in one go? The issue is that the rows with B in the name are all over the place. TIA.
If u have MS access you can export that excel file to MSACCESS and do SELECT name from ..where Name like '%B'; once you get what ever results copy them and paste in xcel sheet... యుగానికొక్కడు-సచిన్ |

Addtional info - B occurs only in some rows. Say 50% of the total rows. |
