The Andhra Pradesh Vigilance and Enforcement, probing the multi-crore Sri Vari Arjitha seva ticket scam, found that former TTD chairman and Rajya Sabha member T Subbarami Reddy had booked 'Melchat Vastram' seva tickets up to 2060 in the names of his family members in 2008. According to TTD sources, Mr Reddy had purchased nearly 160 vastram tickets in bulk for Rs 20 lakh in July, 2008. The tickets were bought in the names of his son and grandson. The then TTD executive officer K V Ramanachary and the present Tirumala Temple special officer A V Dharma Reddy were alleged to have helped him in the getting the tickets booked. The bulk booking of the seva tickets was strongly criticised by many political leaders, who demanded a CB-CID inquiry into the whole episode involving some influential politicians and representatives of some leading industrial houses. Not only Subbarami Reddt, his relatives too bought many other seva tickets in bulk for next few years!! It is for this reason that when you open the TTD website to book tickets, you find that most of them are booked for the next many years. | ||
